Anyone have trouble with this thing and spins? seemed like all it wanted to do when it go slow was spin...ended up spinning it to the ground, wouldn't respond to anything.

I flew mine yesterday and had no problems. It was its maiden flight. What kind of engine, prop are you using? Did you range test it with the antenna down? Have you used your reciever in another plane for proof it worked? Mainly was your batteries good and charged?

I've got a dozen or so flights on mine without any problems whatsoever. A Cub will spin on you if you get them there, and they can be a pain in the butt to get out at times. I, for the life of me, can't figure out how you got it there though. How slow were you going? How high were you when it went into the spin?

wow, what are the chances of two of the same plane maidening on the same day?
everything was charged, receiver was almost new, just came out of a Pizazz. range check was good. i'm using a TT Pro .46 with 12x6 Zinger.
i was definitely above stall speed, just as i started the left turn to final, wham right into spin. was about 30-40ft high...totally baffled myself(soon to be pilot) and friends. (all full scale pilots)
oh well, some CA, balsa, a new cowl and windshield and i'll be back in the air...

That is cool, on the same plane and same day. I had the same problem with my GP Extra 300 40. Mine went into a death spin, I was going to slow on the final approach and too much elevator to straighten it out on the turn and wallah! Death Spin! I thank the good Lord that I used nylon bolts to hold on the wing and landing gear. The whole fuse came out completely intack. Other than the horizontal stab, it was sheared. The cowl shattered. And the wing had a small hole but survived. Same here on the little ca and balsa.

I also maiden my new cub this past weekend no spins but lots of fun
. I was all geared up for all the bad ground handling that I had heard about but it did just fine as long as you don't slam the gas on take off. I have a magnum 61 in it and it pulls a round the sky just great. we had at times a 10 to 15 mph cross wind on landing so they where a little hairy. here are some pics of my cub

Ramduster,
I'm glad you like your Cub, I love mine. I too, am running a Magnum .61 four stroke in mine. It's a perfect match for the plane. I noticed that you stated the only way you could get the plane to handle well on the ground, takeoffs I'm assuming, is with easy throttle management. I tried over, and over to get mine to handle correctly with light throttle management but it was way too inconsistent. Sometimes it looked perfect and other times it would ground loop like no tomorrow. Finally I decided to try somthing different. I held full up elevator and gunned the hell out of it. The tail came off the ground after around three feet and the plane was in the air after about ten feet. Guess what! The plane never got off line, it never tried to ground loop, it simply went straight and lifted off. This is how I take off all the time now. I know it's not the scale way to take off, but it's the best way I've found to do so without risking damaging the plane. Landings are always picture perfect.

I have not tried holding full up and gunning it but will try it next time I am out at the feld. On take off it would pull to left and I had to put some right rudder in it for it to go stright I will try and post some more pics tonight.

for take off, i went about 1/4 to 1/2 throttle. tail comes up and let it roll for a bit then apply some up and add a bit more power. No problems with ground loop except on one landing.
