RE: extreme aircraft cap 232
Well I finally flew the Cap today and thought I would give you guys an idea how it was with the BME 44. It's a great flyer, very predictible and I believe that it's a better flyer than my Cap X with a BME 50! I think because the power to weight ratio is better on the Extreme Cap. The BME 44 is not broke in yet so I would guess that it will only get better. If anyone would like any specifics let me know and I'll get back to you. I did notice one advertisement this morning that the Extreme Cap is now $329.00 up from $299.00. Still worth every penny in my opinion.

RE: extreme aircraft cap 232
hello Racsanone
Well I just finished My Extreme last night with the mvvs had little problem with the motor at first the I E box let go in the first twenty minutes boy was I ------ well got that problem fixed. broke it in last night an at my surprise the motor turned 6500 with 20x10 mej prop that give me 19.7 lbs thrust thats great for a plane that is 14.9 15.0 lbs I think. Well going to fly it today.

Well that may be so but it really flies nice and lands great. with that mvvs it flies vertical at have throttle and doesn't stop, so the wing load stuff is just a mathmatical problem do you think they had that when they flew the X 14 for the first I time don't SO. all my plane fly great and are over the weight limits. so don' beleave every thing you read.

Use metal gear in this size plane. Those Karbonite are pretty fragile as I found out on my CAP232 120 maiden. If you use anything under 100 oz-in do NOT max out your throws, it will shred the gears in a hurry. I'd go 1:1 on the servo arm to control horn linkage to give the servo lots of mechanical advantage. I used 5645's on mine but if you have the $$ go with 5945's. The 5645's on mine fly it very well. Mine is a Kangke.
BTW, this looks like a really nice CAP. I'm jealous that mine is not that light. It's 13 lbs, 12 ounces with a Moki 1.80.

Had one of those Kange Caps also, lost it due to a radio problem, it hit so hard it took out the Zenoah G-38 also. They are solid planes also but they are heavier, I think mine was about 14 or 15lbs.. I usually use Futaba 3010's but I had 2 HS 635HB's that I used in the elev., Haven't had any problems yet.

I set mine at 3.25 flies fine! If your nervous set it a 3 and work your way back. I don't think you need to go back any more than the 3.25, it does just about anything, even blenders, at that

RE: extreme aircraft cap 232
CAP232TAIN and/or anyone else with this set up, can you please let me know how the cap hovers with this engine(BME 44)and how well it pulls out as well as how fast it pulls out of hovers? I have this plane and am thinking of getting this engine for it but would like to know as much about it's 3D capabilities as possible before I make the order. Thanks in advance.

RE: extreme aircraft cap 232
Well I'm down to building it this week and I am still unsure of what power plant to use(Magnum 180 2 stroke or BME 44/50). I am looking for unlimited vert and 3D capability. I would also like to know if there is anyone with this model who has converted it to a two piece wing? Thanks.

Depending on your flying skill you might want to consider double beveling the elevator and rudder! You should be able to get away with the aile. the way they are. That is if you haven't started assembly yet! Your 3D will be limited if you don't! Like I said, it all depends on how your going to fly it!

How exactly do I go about double beveling the tail feathers, I have not started to assemble it yet. Will the BME 50 be too heavy? What about the two piece wing?

RE: extreme aircraft cap 232
I do mine freehand with a piece of sandpaper on a flat surface and sand each side till I get the profile I want. I'm sure some guys have a variety of other methods, hopefully someone will tell you their method. No, I don't think the BME 50 is too heavy, but it is alot of power. That picture in the previous post is of a Cap X, it is very similar to the Extreme Cap, but more of a 3D monster than the Extreme Cap! Hope you can tell what I'm talking about from these pics. They are from a H9 1/4 Cap that I'm modifying to suit my flying style. Pics of verticle stab and rudder.

Do you do any 3D Charlie? What did the plane weigh with the 44 in it? I am thinking about using Robart hinges and that might give me a little more throw.

RE: extreme aircraft cap 232
I think it was 11.8 or 12lbs., it's been awhile. As long as you can get about 40 - 45deg. up/down, left/right, from your control surfaces, it will do what you want! If I remember correctly on the Extreme Cap I get about 39deg. up elev and 42 deg. down elev., on the Cap X I get 46 deg. up and 50deg. down, this is one area that a little means alot! Waterfalls are real tight with the Cap X and the Extreme Cap does nice waterfalls but not real tight! Elevators are great with the Cap X and just O.K with the Extreme Cap! And so on!!! You get the idea? On the other side of the coin, the Extreme Cap is much more forgiving and landings are easy. Great plane for learning 3D, but nothing radical without some modifications! All that being said, it depends on YOUR flying style and capability whether it's worth double beveling the surfaces or using different hinges!

RE: extreme aircraft cap 232
Well I just opened the box again and noticed that all control surfaces are already double beveled! Was yours like that too? So I went to my LHS to look for some Robarts and all I found were small ones. What hinges did you use? Thanks for all your input.

RE: extreme aircraft cap 232
I just finished building my cap and a word of advise... reinforce the throttle servo tray! It came out after only five minutes of running my engine (first start up after assembly).
