Hi - I just bought the great planes super sportster 40. What modifications or additional strengthening is required on the ARTF version of this plane? I wouldn't even know what to look for.
Can you folks give me building tips for this plane in ARTF form?
Thanks,
P.

Add a brace to the landing gear block. Be prepared for the pants to puncture the wing covering on anything less than PERFECT landings on grass. I built simple diagonal 'oleo' struts that brace the gear and absorb landing force, works like a charm. If you wish to keep it simple, modify the fuselage to accept aluminum gear in front of the wing as has been suggested by others. Unless you address the landing gear issue you will be disappointed. Another thing to be careful about is low speed turns, it'll snap in especially if a breeze catches you just right. I really like my SS 40 arf, these are just things I've learned about it in the last 9 months. Have fun!

.....gee, without ever seeing one, I'd recommend the 'normal'.....stiffen up the landing gear area and firewall. Other than that, let's hope she was built O.K. to begin with!
