Hi all , I would like to know if its feesible to put a gasser engine in a 78" edge 540? I wanted to go gas to lower the flying cost and have been advised against the gas engine due to its weight. The airplane recomends a 1.08-1.50 2stroke or a 1.20-1.80 4 stroke. Will a gas engine work or will the airplane be too heavy to fly properly? Thnaks

A flyer at our field had an RCS engine on one of the H-9 73" caps. I think it is the 1.80, but don't remember. You may compare the wing area of the two to see how they compare for a starting point.

Thanks guys , I want to go gas because at the present time I am spending $30+ per weekend to fly my glow planes. I usually burn 2-3 gallons every weekend......I try to fly the wings off my models and usually get between 25-35 flights on a given weekend. Gas figures to about $2.75 a gallon compared to the glow fuel at $15-17 per gallon.
