I've had one with a Thunder Tiger .46 in it and another one with an O.S. .70 Surpass on the nose. Both flew absolutely fantastic, but the 2 stroke was a better match (and I usually prefer 4 strokes). Absolutely fantastic flying airplane and goes together very well. Use care when cutting out the half circle on the firewall for the muffler tunnel, took 4 stitches to close me up when I got careless.

Seen it fly with a TT46 that had a tuned pipe ... in the hands of a capable flyer the plane is amazing.

Thanks for the input ya'll.Is there anything I need to be awre ok in flying it. Thr RCM article just said it was very smooth, but these reviews are usually pretty glowing. For example,a review on the Funtana all but said it like flying on rails. The Funtana is a good plane, but the comments in the review were anything but truthful.

Depends on which magazine. Some are known for realistic reviews and some, like MAN and FLY R/C use their product reviews as free four page advertisements.

If I saw it in RCM I'd assume that the writer was at least honestly reporting what he found in the one he put together and flew.

The only magazines I trust are the British ones, almost all US RC magazines are written with the advertisers in mind. I used to be into RC cars. We have seen some really ****ty cars being reviewed as good cars! That happens too often in US magazines.

It's a nice looking model. There's one sitting on the shelf at my LHS that catches my eye everytime I walk past it. Looking at the tailfeathers, it's probably not much of a 3D plane, is it? I'm guessing more pattern/sport flying?

Hi,

It's a beautiful plane to fly. Fast and cuts thru' wind easily.
I have a TT Pro46 on it with a tuned pipe. Gives me 13,000 rpm with an APC 11x6
prop.

CAUTION: DO NOT use the Thunder Tiger fuel tank supplied. It will eventually leak
under pressure.....leading to deadstick. My buddy lost his brand new Imagine that way.
It's a floater and normally deadstick landings are no problem. But he was just
unlucky that day.

No, it's not a 3D plane. It's a pattern.

Here's 3 of them at our field. Mine's in the middle.

ezgoer I have been using thunder tiger fuel tanks since I started flying.....I never had a problem even once....when you put the cap on, spray it with some methanol and let it dry....then finally put some CA glue around the cap after tightening it....this way the fuel tank never leaks....

Dragunov80, Thanks for the tip. We've seen quite a few TT tanks leak here. Maybe it's because of our high temperature and humidity.

Hey there I just got this exact arf can you tell me if you had to cut out the top of the fuse to install the tail fin? And if so how? I removed the covering per the manual and it is solid balsa under the covering. any help would be great.

There should be a slot in the fuse ready to accept the fin. Mine did. Yours doesn't so you need to make do with what ya got. You could try to cut your own slot, but as I recall it was deep, so you could make yours shallower and cut some of the bottom of the fin off. You can determine how much by holding the rudder in place to see how much fin needs to get buried. Another option is to cut the fin flush with the top of the fuse, and then use the largest dowels that fit in the fin thickness, perhaps 3/16" diameter. Use two or three dowels, maybe 1.5" long, and drill holes about 3/4" deep in the fin and fuse. Make sure you get the fin as vertical as you can, easier said than done in this case. There are other ways to skin this cat, but go for it because this plane is a lot of fun to fly! It can groove around like a decent pattern plane, or you can fun fly it. Mine has an OS 70 Surpass II which seems to be a perfect match. Good luck, Jon

My Imagine 50 had the balsa still sitting in the slot when I cut the covering away. I thought that no slot had been carved for the vertical stabilizer, but it turned out that I just needed to pull the filler piece out of the slot in the fuselage. They back it that way to prevent damage to the tail of the fuselage during shipping.

I think I used an exacto knife to lift the scrap balsa out of the stabilizer slot, if I recall correctly. If you simply press a pin into the middle of where the verticle stabilizer slot should go, the piece of filler balsa should lift right out.

I have one here in the UK flies OK but needed a handful of down elevator when inverted I did all the usual checks c of g wing incidence and tried again but no better I have just found that the tailplane has a warp near the end about 4 inches fron the end so I have taken it out and I'm replaceing it with a solid one I did read where someone had very bad tail flutter which shook the elevator hinges apart so it may be a weak point I also replaced the elevtor push rod with a through the fuse crank type lot better.
