Hey Fly Lower, The 27% isn't much bigger than the Dave Patrick Ultimate and that 75 would be way to big. Goldberg makes a 30% that is made for 3.2 to 4.2. Your 75 would make a great combo in this plane. The only problem is, it's $850. The guys that do have this plane say it's worth the price. Do a scearch for the tread. I believe it was in Giant Aircraft forum.

what do you guys think of putting the servos on their side for the wings? what's the difference with putting them up straight?

There is no real difference, other than you will need to modify the mount.

ORIGINAL: samsrc

Well I finally finished my Aeroworks 33% Ultimate. I had purchased an ARC version, so it took a little longer to build due to all the covering. I flew it yesterday for the first time, and I have to say, that I'm very pleased with the way it flew. It needs a little trim work, and cg adjustment, but overall I liked it very much.
Here are a few pics for anyone interested:

WOW!!! you only have one servo on the rudder???? I mean, I know its a 260lbs/oz on a 6V, but is it enough just one??

Fredy,

It seems to be enough. I can knife edge loop with no problems.

I think there is a lot of overkill out there, and the reason I say that, is that years ago before all these high powered servos were available, guys were flying heavier airplanes with smaller servos. In fact about 7-8 years ago, I had a 40% Giles, that had one Futaba giant scale servo on the rudder, rated as 220 oz (or somewhere around there) and I had no problems. I also just had 2 JR 4721's, nylon gears, 120 oz each on each aileron, and it would roll till you were blue in the face.

I like that because of the idea of how much weight you must be saving.....

I've decided to recover the Ultimate. I'm goin for an orange almost yellow. then I'm also using only one JR 8611 on the rudder.
I'll let you know how it's going.

Well there is some progress on my Ultimate. I'm enjoying watching because I'm really not participating that. Much. A friend that builds is doing it for me. As Samrc did, we also spent some hours making sure all was lined up and that all incidences were as marked on the manual.
It's practically stripped and we're recovering with orange. It should look Sweet!
