hi, i have a question, has anyone had a problem with the elevator being flaky, when i pull back on mine, the plane acts like, starts to pull up and pauses then goes into a weird kind of turn, i replaced the servo with a new 100 oz. one and the same thing happens, it seems as though the elevator may not be flat totally and i think that would make the plane turn out on pulling back, but would it give it the delay feeling thing, any help would be awesome, i have checked the radio all out and linkage is perfect with no flex, thanks jb

jb, just how much are you pulling back and how much movement at the surface do you have? If something is warped you should be able to visually detect it just looking at the elevator halves. What it sounds like is a lot of throw and and a hard pull stalling the plane and causing a snap. If thats the case you may be seeing the normal behavior of the plane.

i had it up again this morning and with my elevator at only approx 3/4 inch throw doing a mild pull back like you wanted to climb at a 45 degree angle at 40% throttle it almost does a kinda barrel roll to the right when you pull it back,?? i thought my elevator was kinda flexy< (new word), so i added some support on both sides also, thanksjb

i have a futaba 9caf, and there is nothing else active, i even tried a different receiver tonight and had one of our local fliers, who flies in the top gun competition look at it and he had some suggestions like the way the wing measures up to the elevator but any other suggestions will be awesome, thanks jb

Hi JB,
I think that under the load one off the elevator-halves is being pushed down more so it starts to roll.
While building mine I also found the elevator very flexy, so I decided to stiffen up the elevator-halves by putting an extra steel rod between them.
Better look at the pictures to see what I mean.

While the above mod may look like a good idea, it's not necessary on this plane. I have one with the elevators assembled stock, no problems. There has to be something else causing the condition you describe.
