I am currently working on a Kondor models 72" Geebee, but the landing gear on it is horrible. So I want to replace it with robart struts. I was wondering if anybody has done this and if so what struts they used. Towerhobbies sells a pair for the Great Planes Geebee but the GP landing gear looks diffrent then Kondors, and I would hate for the price to buy the wrong ones.

Don`t exactly know what struts would be for a Gee Bee, but I dearly love the ones I put on my Kyosho PT-19. Robart has great customer service as well, at least in my experience. Just give them a call or send them an e-mail. As you probably know, they are NOT inexpensive.

The plane Is gonna be atleast a $1000 by the time it sits on the runway. So spending $150 on landing gear is worth it. The landing gear it comes with is just plain horrible and looks like it will collapse on landing. And I would hate for it to crash, and lose a $1000 plane all because I cheaped out on the gear. I am going to E-mail them tonight I just wanted to know what people think.

Don`t blame you a bit. It`ll be money well spent in my opinion if you can find the right struts ( don`t see why you can`t, Robart seems to make something that`ll fit most everything ) and those things work. I don`t think you`ll be sorry.

I have the KMP also and replaced the wire with new High strength wire... I was bending the wire it came with forward a little to get the wheels as far forward as possable and it broke... So made new set. I made an extra wire that went back to the wing at a 45% angle and solder in together with copper wire around it to secure it. I also did not attach the wheel pant to the wing with screws. I place thin foam under the pant where it touches the wing, mounted new hard rubber tires and filled the wheel pants with expandable foam... I'm going to see how this works before I invest in struts... I did see a pair of Robarts struts that seemed like they might work. I think they were 625 series just out this yr. Will check on and see #.

Thanks Bull-RCU I will probably take your advice on the wheel pants since I don't care for how they attach either. I am also going with the air filled tires since just sitting on the table for a week made them go flat. For such a big plane you think they would have beefed up the landing gear allitle. I have a 1.48 two stroke on the front how do you think its gonna fly? This is my first big plane, and I am planning on flying it next summer due to cost restrictions[
]. The only reason I was able to get it was I got a good deal $250 for plane engine and servos(Standard) all brand new. I intend on going digital corless on everything. High torque on rudder and elevator. Anything else you can think of that I should know\change?? Any help is greatly appreciated.

I'm using a 120 OS pumped motor and my friend has a 150 saito wich balances perfect... Only problem I have is it needs tons of nose weight. Wish I would have went with the 150 rather have engine weight for balance then lead.
PS I wrote foam in wing in my other post ment wheel pants... I change it now. Remember when filling the wheel pants just add the foam slow an hold the edges of the pants to hold in place so they stay centered on the wheels. Remember the foam expands at least 1/4 - 1/2 of what you fill. I also taped the wheel pant tthe wing while doing this process...
Your motor should be fine.
