I had and have the Phoenix Funstar from Tower , it is a blast to fly, just so long as you don't get to much airspeed, lost one to flutter![:@]
I have a Magnum 46XLS in mine, more than enough power and at 99.00 right now can't go wrong!
Im starting on my second one.

P-40LUVR I have a Phoenix Sukhoi their construction is very good and the price is super cheap, but I dont really like Funstar too much much. The planes that am really interested in are or the Funtana S 40 or the U-Can-Do 3D 40. Thanks for replying anyways.
Guys please if you got pictures of the U-Can-Do 3D or the Funtana please post them I just love to see pics

Fun Flyer,
Go with the UCD. I loved mine. Lost it today due to engine flame out. But I do have the 60 size also. I flew mine with a OS 61 in the nose and it was a blast to fly. Here are some vids of the UCD flying(Not me)

I second the UCD. It was my 3rd plane and I still love flying it. I think the funtana makes a better "intermediate" 3D airplane.
There is a pretty large thread here on the UCD .46 here on RCU, there's lots of pics and info there.

You might consider an electric as your 3D trainer. Smaller, cheaper and the ones I will list here are made of foam so they don't break when that 3D move doesn't work. You can practice at home, or in small spaces that just won't work for a glow plane. When you get good at it, then move back to the glow for your "big" 3D plane. However I warn you, electrics are tons of fun and so convenient.

Hi,
I would say the Funtana just to be different from the rest of the guys as its a better looking plane
a guy at my local club had the smaller and larger sized Funtana and both look great and fly great.. I had the UCANDO which also flew really well but the only tree at the field decided it was time to give it a hug
and the rest was history
Good luck in which ever you choose but i dont think you can go wrong with either as thier both great planes

aeajr i wouldnt say its his loss, he just knows what he wants and if u want to stick to glow its cheaper in the long run rather than buying all the electirc stuff and then changing ur mind.
I have tried electirc but to me it just doesnt compare (all to thier own
), i fly mostly warbirds and the smell and noise of a four stroke chugging away in the sky makes it come alive
Good luck with ur choice in whaterver u choose.

No problem. I agree you should fly what you like. However, for this application, having a small, foam, easy to fix plane that you can fly almost anywhere to practace would have its advantages. That doesn't me make it the right choice in this case.
Each to his own. As long as we are all having fun!

But a smaller plane is harder that a bigger plane?
But a smaller plane is harder that a bigger plane?
For example, a 16 oz 3D electric can be hand launched vertically or normally in a small space. If it has a light wing loading, it can be flown quite slowly. You really would not want to do that with a 12 pound glow plane.
You can fly that 3D 16 oz plane in a baseball infield, perhaps flying around the bases. Again the larger plane would not likely be able to do that very easily.
The larger plane would be far less effected by wind or gusts.

I wasn't going to recommend the Funtana for a first 3D plane, but if you're flying a Sukhoi now, you can handle it. The Twist is very fun too, and also the UCD and the Magic Extra. The Magic Extra is the cheapest built plane out of the bunch, but flies well. I don't have any experience with the Extreme Flight Edge 540 profile, but I've heard GREAT things about it.
If you do go with the Funtana, get new axles for it......they fall apart.
Here's a pic of my one wheel landing on the maiden flight.

FUNFLYER, I know its tempting, but the funtana is a plane with authority,i would have to say between the two the ucando buy far.its behavor is nothing like the funtana its a little more gentle to fly.heres a few pics of my sons first flight s on his ucando.we had a OS46fx with a pipe but sence joined a club and it was way to loud so we installed a saito82.[link=http://www.midmad.com/forum/viewthread.php?tid=7148]UCANDOIT[/link]
