Default p-51 mustang

i have finally got my p-51. it is a hangar 9 60 size, with a o.s. 91 four stroke. now for the big decision. what in the world do you do with the JUNK RETRACTS. second flight one folds up. that was pretty exciting. about the fourth flight they just decided not to stay locked down on landing. enough is enough. i know someone on this forum will steer me in the right direction. what are my options.

A fellow in our club just maidened his 60-size P-51 on Labor Day. And I must concur, the retracts SUCK! He wrote a letter to Horizon asking them to replace the crappy retracts with a set of the so-called "new and improved" retracts for the new 60-size Miss America P-51, also from Hangar 9. He has yet to get a response, but Hangar 9's customer service is pretty good so I bet he'll be hearing from them soon. I suggest you do the same, either write a letter or give them a call. Good luck!

Air retracts with funtional oleo struts is the way to go.

A simple search for "H9 AND Mustang" yields:

There are many more posts on the H9 Mustang. Do a search for them.

The retracts are fine IF you can land and IF you can set them up properly - ie NOT as the instructions tell you to. I have two AT-6's and a 90 sized P-51 - all have the same retracts. I will say that the legs are too flexible but that's an easy fix (thicker wire)

Doesn't anybody ever do a search on a subject before starting this H9 retract stuff over and over again?
