For all of you Cub fans who may be interested, I finally flew my Thundertiger Cub today. It flew quite well which came as a surprise considering the result of my first flight back in July. On that first flight I stalled on final approach trying to slow down for as three pointer in a cross wind. Classic pilot error and it spun in crashing and destroying the right wingtip , tail wheel and cracking the cowl. So I rebuilt the outer ten inches of the wing, fixed the tailwheel and the cowl and made a few adjustments before the second flight. Specifically I reduced the elevator and aileron throws to what Thundertiger suggested for low rates. Previously they were maxed out as I forgot to check what Thundertiger recommended. Needless to say I had my hands full during that first flight. I also cranked out the aileron linkages so that both are slightly up at neutral which in effect puts washout into the wing and I flew the second flight today taking off and landing into a very mild breeze. The Cub handled very nicely and landed without incident after touching down on the mains. Stats are OS 70 turning a MA 13-5 prop, nine and a quarter pounds on 850 SQ inches of wing yielding about 25 oz/ sq foot of loading.
Now I can start on my H9 Super Cub with a little more confidence. I think I'll read all the instructions this time !!
