We have had some problems with trying to perfect it but, this pictures shows it in its complete form. We have outfited it with a Zenoah G-26 Gasser, Futaba Radio Equipment. It flys perfectly and we only had to drill 6 extra small 1/8 inch holes in the bottom of the cowl to make the cooling more efficient. The Gas tank had some problems but we made a small little airvent so that the tank was not going to colapse like it had already done to us.

From: Center of the Flyover States,
That wingspan is impressive. I was wondering how a larger engine say a Brisson 2.4 would work in this bird.......and a smoke system. I read a review that with a Saito 1.50 about two pounds of lead was needed to balance, so weight shouldn't be a problem. Did you have to add nose weight with the G26? Was it hard to fit the G26 in that narrow fuselage? What torqure Futabas did you use? How are snaps and spins? Thanks

We mounted the G26 with the stock mount that came with it. To perfectly fit it into the cowl we had to round off the top edges (we mounted the engine inverted) so that it would fit in the cowl with out excess cutting of the cowl. To help isolate the engine vibration we used rubber door stops to help(not sure if it helps but its better to be safe than sorry, vibration seems to be minimal). The plane balanced perfectly with no added extra lead weights. We used a Slimline #2102 Giant Scale muffler made for the G23, the muffler sticks out the side of the cowl 1/8 to 3/16 of an inch, not very unsightly. This engine is almost more than enough, it will climb for what seems like forever (to us). As with us we did not think about compression and our gas tank and for the first few flights it was being collapsed, we fixed that by using a slimline Excel Fuel Filler and Vent, Excellent Product. As for servos we used Futaba 4 S3010 and one S3004 standard servo for the Throttle Push rod. The Spins and snaps we do not know, we really don't want to see this baby go bye bye anytime soon, our good friend says that it should be able to do it.

Thanks for the info, Yuruki. I am going to build one of those really soon and hang a Honda GX25 on the front of it. I picked that plane because of the low wing loading, so it should work well with the less-than-mega-powerful 4 stroke. What size prop did you use on the Zenoah?

Yuruki, do you have a pic of your engine install, with or without the cowl?
I've had the Rascal 110 for a while now and have not figured out how to install a little gasser without butchering up the cowl and ruining the clean lines of this classic aircraft.

As far as not butchering the cowl it isn't possible putting a gasser on the narrow fuse of the Rascal 110 -- I just got mine mounted and have not cut the cowl -- waiting for my slimline pitts for it. But looksl like the right side will have a pretty descent size cutout for the carb assembly to stick out of -- and with the pitts looks like some small massaging will have to be done but the majority of the left side will stay intact.

Nice install. Thanks for posting the pics. May be it's a personal taste kinda thing, but I don't mind the carb sticking out. I just don't like a few installs that I have seen with pretty much the whole muffler sticking of the cowl. Let us know how well he Pitts muffler works for you. If you can manage to keep from opening up the entire right cheek, I might just do the same setup.

You have what I've been looking for!!! Will you post some pic's with the cowl on please? I have heard horror stories about this installation. How long did it take to get the right fit?
Thanks,
Pat

less than an hour -- I had one with a saito 180 on it and it took lees time to mount the gasser. The muffler is supposed to be in on Tuesday and I will get pics of it with the cowl on probably that night.
