Default Why do all our garages look the same?

Ever noticed in most of the pictures supplied of a particular plane, in the background it seems every square inch is occupied by a kit box, airplane or obligatory plastic model airplane kits. It seems most of us only ever get to fly about 20% of all the kits and planes we will aquire in our lives. I like checking out the extent of other peoples madness though. You have your neatfreaks, your slobs, your mayhem worshipers (don't touch anything cuz I know exactly where everything is!) your stackers, your kitty whipped boys (wife will only let them have one or two planes) your pure planeaholics. Some I have seen look like an operating room, while others (like mine) can't remember the last time they saw a wall or the floors.
When will we admit we are in DENIAL about this obsession?

The first step to recovery is to admit you have a problem. I myself do not have a problem.

I have 3 ARFs + 2 kits NIB, 5 under construction in various stages, 2 needing repair, and only 2 flyable aircrafts. But I don't have a problem.

I have twice as many engines as all the planes mentioned above put together. But I don't have a problem.

Besides RC, I have a 4mo old son to help care for and wayyy more home improvement projects planned and in the works than I have free time. But, I do NOT have a problem.

You people have problem if you think I have a problem.

What problem???? I have a problem???? Just because I have 4 planes under construcion, 3 that need repair and about 30 kits waiting in the wings doesn't mean I have a problem. My shop is just how i like it and if you find a dead body under all the mess doesn't mean I put it there. I am missing a student that came over to work on his plane and he just kind of disappeared, might be him???? Now just because I still have the first plane I ever built 48 years ago doesn't mean I have a problem, heck I may have a use for it someday, who knows??? Nope no problem here!!!!

Default Problem?

Hi my name is Hans, and I'm a planeaholic. It has been 2 weeks since I had a new plane and I am trying to make it without, one day at a time. In the past it got so bad the we had to buy a house with a bigger garage because we could not get into the one at the old house.
My wife has been good through all of the hard times I have brought upon us. Sneaking planes into the garage so she won't see them, meeting the UPS man at the corner so the next door folks won't see it in front of the house all the time. I feel so bad for all that I have done......... What!? Plane auction! Where!!!

AHHHHH, sorry I have to go now ummmmmmmm, I have to pick up the wife from work and mow the yard.

Hey wait for me, I'll hit the ATM on the way over!!!!!!!

Problem, what problem.

There is no problem here. I think all of us are as sane as they come. The only problem I see is one of space. When I first got into this hobby, it was real simple. One plane and one transmitter, simple. Next thing you know the planes multiplied, I had to fly slow flyers, fast flyers and everything in between. I found the solution, take the guest room and convert it into a hangar/workshop, problem solved. Next thing you know I got into giant scale and they multiplied. I converted one of the garage bays into a hangar as well, and threw the car that was cluttering the floor space outside. As we all know, when you have all these planes so close to eachother, they tend to multiply again. Luckly I had a 12,000 sq ft warehouse with lots of empty space. I figure this should keep the situation under control for at least a few months, I hope. The best part, my wife never drives out to the warehouse. Denial, what denial there's no problem here and those that say we do obviously have a problem.

Dang.. his garage is clean. I can see an entire wall. He must -not- Have a problem.

As for me, my problems are a-plenty. I used to be in a one man band but I couldn't keep em together. So I took up R/C (in many forms). I don't even -have- a garage so I sleep in a tiny bedroom with me, 2 computers, a server rack, monitor and NINE AIRPLANES IN IT. Trying to get a plane out is like taxi'ing on the 'ole Lady Lex in WWII. Need an air control officer, and a genuine PLAN just to get out the door. I have tools under the bed, in racks under my desk, hanging from the wall (i have 3 of those wall-mount-your-plane thingies). Thank GOD I only have one radio. The speaker mounts on my monitor hold screwdrivers. Inside my computer cases (big ones) are paints in plastic bottles.... I moved my dresser to the hallway so I could put a small bandsaw in there. I am considering installing a dust collectoin system, but the cot's going to be tough to sleep in for extended periods...

And NO I DONT HAVE A PROBLEM!

Default What a PROBLEM!!!

Hi guys, this is an awesome thread which talk about the PROBLEM, surely I do not see any problem here.
I started two years ago with a trainer of course. But some thing happened and next thing I noticed that my planes have started multiplying. 40s became small, 60s are average, 120s are ok and now giant scale planes are good!!
Living in two bed room apt. converted second room into hobby land, some time planes are in living room on coffee table, dining table, along the bed side. Bathroom is the only place where there are no planes. God bless my wife's heart she is very understanding and very seldom says any thing about this problem. I still do not see any problem and if some body has one then I have no solution for it.
Good comments and hope to hear some more.
Jamal

Hey, I live in my converted hobby room. If the ceiling drywall ever fails I'm going to have a Stick 40 come crashing down on my bed!

Default Not me...

I have no problems....

My wife and I have an agreement. I don't build (any more) in her kitchen, and she doesn't cook in the garage.....er....hangar.

As for space, All of my planes are neatly hanging off of the ground. Never mind that I can't find anything useful for the house because the airplane stuff is in the way, or that I can't work on the house because I can't find the tools, so I might as well go flying (because I can't find the tools to work on the house....

Me? No problem...

See ya at the field!

All my tools are model-building tools. Completely unsuitable for home improvement tasks What's that, you ask?

Why, that's the control tower I'm building in my back yard... right beside the runway I'm having put in for my 1/2A planes. Oh, and that buzzing noise you hear from time to time is me chasing the cat around the house with my Piccolo.

Do you see a problem here?
