Default Anybody heard from Vectorflight lately? ISSUE RESOLVED!

I ordered an Edge 540 on Monday through the website. They charged my credit card, but will not respond to emails inquirng as to whether said Edge has been shipped or not.

I've read a lot of good things about VF's customer service, but they have been pretty non-reponsive for me. For those of you that ordered from them, did you get any indication of shipment, or expected arrival date, or tracking number? How long did it take to receive your aircraft?

I know these smaller companies get busy, and don't have time to answer every email within minutes, but it's been 4 days since I ordered AND paid. I just want to know it's on the way.

Regards,
Kurt

VF contacted me this morning (5 days after order), and let me know they were having server/email issues. They estimated a two week lead-time on the Edge. Charging my credit card at the time of order is a feature (bug?) of the website/vendor, and they have no control over that (a little scary). However, they were very straightforward about the ship date, and I will be happy to wait the two weeks.

Their website says two weeks for delivery. Since they are a small shop, time of year, recent sale, recent good publicity on RCU etc., I wouldn't be to surprised to see this slip a little further. They don't exactly warehouse container loads of these things.

Don't sweat it. I just got a cowl I ordered from them. If you want a tracking number, you gotta ask for it. Every business is going to have problems from time to time. I have dealt with them on 4 occassions and could NOT be happier. Great people!

Like above, at least two weeks... I have bought two planes from them in the past and you can not find better people to deal with... They bend over backwards to help out...

When i ordered my edge it took roughly 2-3 weeks till i got it. I dont really care how long i wait. VF has been awsome on responding to my e-mails in a timely manor. They will write you when the plane is shipped as they did to me.

I will continue to fly, crash, buy, and repeat until they stop making them.
These guys have the best customer service in the buisness, hands down!
I waited three weeks for mine, and I live in Canada.
You won't be sorry you ordered it my friend.

Snow ski jokes.........
We are having one of the mildest winters to date here in the "hills".
The real crappy thing is it's just a little too cold to fly!
Dang!
I have purchased a lottery ticket, when I win I will move down to Florida and rub it in!

I recently sent VF an e-mail about the wheel pants that come with the kits that they sell. Here is a copy of the e-mail and the response that I got back from them.

I had one of your 66 inch extra 300's and it was my favorite plane. I lost it due to radio equipment failure and plan to replace it in the near future. I would like to say that your plane was and still is the best money that I have ever spent on any RC product. I have had around 50 different planes and none of them have been the price for quality that yours was. I am an avid follower of the threads on RC Universe. I am online every day and read all of the threads that interest me. I follow the Vector Flight threads and always respond to most of them. I tell everyone who is interested about your products. I plan on doing a build and flying review on the next one that I build. One thing that I would like to comment on is the wheel pants that are included in your kits. For most fliers they only last a few flights and they get trashed easily. Since your kits are made with such high quality and you only use quality hardware. I would like to make a suggestion that you look at replacing the wheel pants with a high quality item. I have found a low cost alternative that you could use in place of the ones that come with the kit. Take a look at the SIG part # SIGSH378. These are the ones that come with the Sig somethin extra and fit very well on your models. The retail cost from Sig is 7.50 per set. I bet you could get them much cheaper than that. I don't think that any customer would complain about a 7.50 cost increase to get some high quality wheel pants that look great and last a long time. I have flight tested these wheel pants on my plane and had 250+ flights on them when my plane crashed. I have since installed them on another plane and have around another 100 flights on them. This is just a suggestion to help make your outstanding plane kits even better. Your customer service is one of the best in the business. I will always be a supporter of your planes and plan to get another soon.

Rick Roscoe

Dear Rick:

Thank you very much for your message. We sincerely appreciate your posts at RC Universe and are indebted to you for all your kind words and recommendations. Thank you !!

Yes, you are quite right, the wheel pants need to be improved! There shouldn't be such a difference in durability and quality between the rest of the airplane and the wheel pants, but they were originally designed to hold up well. In fact the material is supposed to be shatter proof, somewhat similar to clear 4 liter soda bottles, only much stronger. We were actually surprised they are not holding up well. The Polycarbonate/PETG plastics we use are engineering plastics and are not supposed to crack even if you strike them hard with a sharp heavy object. It seems that there is some residual heat related embrittlement of the plastic after it is heat molded. We are looking into a tampering process which will remove the brittleness of the material and make them very tough. We are also considering making them from a heavier gauge material in the immediate future.

We will also be checking with an external supplier such as Sig to provide our wheel pants. Thank you for the suggested wheel pants.

Thanks again Rick for your feedback. You have been a great customers and we sincerely appreciate your writing to us and bringing this to our attention.

Very best regards,

Chuck Weber
VF

I got this response from them the very nest morning. Talk about great customer service. I have had nothing but great service from vectorflight from the very first time that I contacted them. I am in no way connected to VF but will continue to support thier products by telling everyone that I can about this great company.

Rick
One very satisfied Customer.

Kurt
One thing about VectorFlight that is obvious from my own experience, and by the many experiences of the other people that have dealt with them here on RCU is that they are a honest Company to deal with. Little problems can always arise with any Company, so it is nice to know that you are dealing with one that really goes out of there way to earn your business with honesty, great customer service, and an awesome product at an unbelievable low price. With a smaller company like VectorFlight you also have to expect a few delays, as I would also bet as stated above that they do not have warehouses stuffed full of allready built airplanes. My guess is they are built on more of a low overhead, and on a demand basis. It would compared to going to Wal-Mart and buying a cheap made pressed wood cabinet(Cheap import Plane), or having a local craftsman building you a handmade oak cabinet(VectorFlight Plane) which would take some time, but he is doing it for the same cost as the cheap Wal-Mart cabinet.

Hey Kurt. I was just wondering if you have received your plane yet. I've been waiting on my extra since early November.

I too ordered the extra 66 on 11/23 and have not seen anything yet. I did notice however, that the website has been updated to indicate a 4 week lag time.

Actually, I cancelled the order. I got a little gift from heaven (also known as cash), and ordered an EF Yak 54. Vectorflight was very cool. Even though they were going to ship in a couple days, they gave me a full refund, no questions asked. They are a small company, working three shifts to handle the increased load.

Sometimes success is a burden! I will still order one when I get some more cash. I've got the Supertigre G90 and some servos sitting around. Thumbs up to VF customer service. And thanks to all you guys for swamping them with orders. If there wasn't a 3-4 week lead time, I never would have ordered the Yak.

I placed an order with them in early November and I am still awaiting the arrival of the Edge. Vectorflight has been a pleasure to deal with. They have responded to all my e-mails in a very timely manner, usually taking less than a day. My most recent e-mail, dated 12/9/04, stated that I am at the top of the list for the next batch of planes. My Edge should be shipped out in 3-4 days (I can't wait). After reading hundreds of posistive threads, I am very excited to get this plane built and flying. I will be putting a Saito 120 and doing many of the modifications that have been posted here on RCU. I have already purchased some upgrades from the LHS. When I get the plane I will start a new build/review thread and I will be taking pics of every step along the way.

Good luck guys and happy flying.
