I haven't flown it but I know there are a few that have. Great plane. It is the Flair or GSP or CMP Yak-54. You can find other posts that will discuss it.

From what I've seen it is a very nice flyer and perfect for a small compact car because it has plug in wings!

If you're thinking of buying one....go ahead. A buddy at my flying field has the Extreme Flight .60 size with a YS 110 installed. It goes into a wall then instantly into a hover and sits there 10 feet over the middle of the flying field for 5 minutes...then pulls out vertical. It's the most amazing thing I've seen with this plane...but it also does all the other stunts.

Cheers.

Kaz - you cannot compare the EF one with this CMPro one as they are worlds apart, I have seen the CMPro one but not flying. The EF plane is 68" whilst the CMPro a proper 40 sized plane with glass fuse. If the CMPro Katana 50 is anything to go by as a referrence then the YAK should be nice. There is a review here of the Katana and you have to see the video.

The YAK's construction is very nice and you need not worry bout it.

Only thing about the CMPro YAK is that whilst its nice to have plug ins but for such a sized plane it makes it heavier. The wing loading is in the region of 28-30 oz ... that is quite a but for a plane this sized. Still my Global Raven has the same wing loading but it does fly very very nice. Hope you have fun!

Yeh....I was kinda Iffy about the weight of this model of the Yak 54. It did seem heavy...but with a YS 110 I think he should be fine. If a .50 size 2-stroke engine is used, the plane may perform or just get by.
Waiting for summer to take out mine with an OS 1.60 FX

I would say go with the .61. I have the 1/4 scale size.....and the plane tend to build slightly tail heavy. If this is the case with this model...then consider a bigger engine with bigger APC prop.

cheers. [>:]

Hi Icebox44,

The others have gave u good comments, but for a different yak....... i have this exact one.......

I would say yes its a very good plane, quailty is excellent and looks great in the air....... flys very very well..... one thing thou its defintly for the more experienced pilot ........ On Landings i find it drops a wing in a fraction of a second ive nearly lost mine a few times lol...... but its still going strong just make sure you land fast keep your speed up for landing it will NOT float...... Ive got a 61 Fourstroke in mine and it flys it really well...... if i had to choose another engine i would still keep to that i think its a excellent match for this yak

Good Luck.......

Dragonheart - this looks like a great job for a Saito 82 then if your 61 4C is already good fun. Sometimes getting the right combination is best, like my pal's TT Imagine, he uses a mere Magnum 61 4C and it flies so darn nice!

icebox - every single one I've seen here in Taiwan is powered by the venerable Y.S.63. Can't... can't go wrong with that combination!!!
