I have a similar ad in the wanted marketplace - thought I'd post one here as well.
Am looking for a NIB Kyosho Pitts Bipe - 2 SC - 40 Size ARF.
Please advise if you have one to sell.
A bonus would be feedback from those of you who have flown this plane - tips, tricks, etc.
Thanks, Cottco

Kyosho is still making the pitts, both stearmans, cessna ag wagon ect........ Great Planes is just not importing them anymore for some reason? Slow sellers? I think kyosho makes great products that are priced reasonably.

This kind of thing came up in a thread talking about .30 sized Waco bipes. Seems the big US importers have little interest in <.60 size ARF biplanes. There are a few, WM Ultimate, Modeltech SE-5, Pacific Tiger Moth, but that's about all. There is obviously a market, but apparently it's not big enough to keep GP and others interested. World Models, Modeltech and Seagull all have some interesting planes, but for some reason Tower and some of the other big places are not carrying them. It's kind of frustrating to know there are all sorts of great choices out there, but we can't get them because the big importers, with exclusive contracts, only import a limited portion of the product line. Guess it's time for me to take another trip to Asia.

Piper, If you go to Asia, there a several planes I want.
I am only 45 mins from you.
. I ordered one time from japan for a plane I wanted so bad I could'nt stand it. Cost me an arm and a leg. 3 months later it was available here in the US. [:@] Your right, there are a ton of cool and very high quality models on the other side of the world. We just can't get to them.

I have one of these planes....it looks really nice on the ground and in the air. Flies awesome and very aerobatic. Floats nice at idle speed. Ok... that's the good part. Now for the not so good part.....be ready to react on take off...she veers to the left on the ground...or on lift off, snaps heavily to the left. On landing...bring her in on a nice glide path and set her down just at a stall with full up elevator...like how you would land a Gee Bee.
All other attempts at landing differently resulted in her flipping over constantly.
Here's a pic.... It's powered with a Saito .56
Cheers.

Kaz, Try holding a little more right rudder on take off. I hold full up elev as I apply power gradually. As speed increases I let out of the elev and apply more right rudder as speed increases. I hold as much right rudder as needed all the way through climbout untill I start my upwind leg. Never has been a problem for me. As for landing, land it just like you land the real one. A little power and use that rudder. You want the stick in you gut when all 3 meet the ground. Much like you stated in your previous post.

Hi Scott.....you are right about holding right rudder for as long as possible when the plane lifts off. I think that is the reason it snaps to the left. This season I was going to try that method. As for landing....phew, I get coldsweat with the memories...haha. I found that it lands a bit better just about a stall with full up elevator. It still is a hit and miss with me...but I found I'm landing now more often than flipping over constantly. Landing is more like a "controlled crash" with me and this plane.

I also found it flies better on high rate....it doesn't like low rates.
Cheers.

Just keep flying it as much as you can. It will make a better pilot out of you. I have seen so called hot shot pilots who could not even take a J-3 cub off without ground looping it. Talk about funny!
Use that rudder all the time.

Funny thing is..I fly a Cub with no problems. I will definately try harder with the Pitts this year. I never gave myself a chance with it. I realise that on lift off, when I release the input of full right rudder, the plane snaps to the left....I'll try your method and gradually release it. That should do the trick. Another problem is high wind. This plane doesn't like it or vice versa. The wind pick it up one evening and flipped it on it's back....I righted the plane....the wind picked it up again and flipped it onto it's back
I went home. I Will try to conquer taking off and landing this plane this year.Cheers.
