Hello,

I am considering purchasing a Super Kraft Texas Hurricane as my next project. I understand the newer versions are a different color scheme than the one on there website. Does any body have any pictures.

The plane looks kind of ugly on the website.

I have heard nothing but good about the construction and overall quality of this arf.

I am thinking of powering it with a Taurus 52.

Any comments please.

Lenny.

I had an opportunity to check the airplane out thoroughly at Toledo, and it looked to be very well constructed. I did not buy one, but only because I already have several similar planes. Also one of our club members has one, and flies it regularly. He is very satisfied w/it. He flies it in IMAC contests, and has placed well in the contests. Based on my limited exposure to the model I would recommend it. My only reservation to the plane is that it seems a little "pricey" for it's size.

I jhave the older version i got it this past spring and i have a fpe 2.4 .The Taurus 52 would fly it very well as that is what i am putting in my next Hurricane i allready have the motor purchased. I havent really seen the new version up close there is picture of it somewhere on this arf section under the model show in Chicago i believe. I love the quality of this plane and for what you get its a good deal > They are selling them for around 380 or 390 and for what you get its a good deal. Some of the hardware i didnt use .. With that motor combo i would put rudder servo in the rear fuse for balance and its a breeze to hook up that way. I had to add around 13ozs of lead to balance mine but that is with the 2.4 up front which only weighs around 3 and 1/4 lbs. Good luck

I have the same one as Bas and agree with everything he said. Mine has a Brison 2.4 and its performance is outstanding. I ordered the new one and I'm putting a Brison 3.2 in it, as my son has taken over the old one. The new trim scheme is much better looking than the old and I can see the battle comming between us as to who gets the new one {a battle I will win.........yea right}. ;^}

Thanks for the fast responses.

One question I forgot to ask. Does it have a 1 or 2 piece wing?.

The new Kangke Texas Hurricane will be like the one reviewed in Flying Models March 2001 including the tail assemble.

For $400 you could probably do alot better on a NIB arf on this site or Ebay. Also those bars which hold the wing on. two of them here were off a bit

What bars? I think you have the wrong plane in mind. Bas is correct,alum tube with lock bolts through the fuse side. Mine only needed elevator trim on its first flight.

You can count me in also, as being a Hurricane fan. A great 2.4 ARF all around. I may even order the new color scheme, just because............

Bananas, yes the photo is the new trim scheme, and mine arrived yesterday. The photo doesn't do it justice.

A couple of questions for the Texas owners:

Is the tail removable?

Is the leading edge completely straight like the edge?

Does the plane have a hatch for easy access on those rear induction carb engines and for ignition etc?

Thanks in advance

epc, the answers to your questions are yes, yes, and yes. Although I'm not sure how far the carb would stick through the firewall, it would depend on which rear iduction engine you have in mind. :^}

Ok,So your telling me that if I Stick my Brison 2.4 in this plane it will have unlimited vert?With authority?I keep hearing so many things about this plane but want real world results.Will a taurus 3.2 or brison 3.2 be a better choice?I don't want to rip the wings off this thing but need to know if a 2.4 is enough.i hav 2 of these engines with no home right now.I need enough power for good 3d without the weight penalty.

thanks guys!

poolguru, My hurricane with a Brison 2.4, Bisson muffler and 20/8 Pro zinger has by any-bodies definition unlimited vertical. It will accelerate straight up from a hover till it disappears in the clouds. A Brison 3.2 in my opinion is the absolute limit in power that could be used, you cant fit a prop bigger than 22-inches.

My fpe 2.4 wont go unlimited vertical but engine is still breaking in gets stronger every time i take it out i think a 3.2 would be ideal but like outcast says you have the ground clearance limit to worry about i also run pro zinger 20/8 prop. By the way out cast Jimmy Banasas ordered the hurricane from Chief aircraft check the price 369 shipped wow what a deal

I know he sent me an e-mail, If he likes the Laser he's gonna love the Hurricane and $369 is a real good price. :^) Also my Brison is a mechanical advance engine and I found it makes more power with about 4 degrees more timing than it came with. you may want to try that after its broken in.

Yeh those things. two of those planes here were returned by the same guy. One of those tubes were about a 1/2 inch off. Gives the impression the ass end is twidted but its the bar/tube

Hey guys,

I looked at the Chief site and it did not even list any Kangke products. I did a search and nothing turned up.... I want a better look at this new scheme. I liked the shape of this plane all along but I did not like the old covering. I have a Sachs 3.1 that sounds like it would be great in this plane. What do you guys think? I would probably get it for $369 if I could find it. Thanks for your help. Anywhere else I could see the new scheme besides the chief site?
