Just ordered my Hurricane today and am anxiously awaiting it's arrival. I just wondered if anyone could tell me how I need to set it up as far as servos to use and will 1 ni-cad pack hold up to it? It's not going to be a wring it out plane as I'm going to use a Zenoah G-38 in mine and use it as a sport flier to begin with. Just don't want to start stripping servos or something right off the bat with it as it will be my only large plane for quite some time. Any help on setup and so forth is really appreciated.

I hate to be negative but the g 38 will be very marginal on power it will fly it but you will have to keep power on all the time i have a fpe 2.4 40cc in mine and it flies it but you must keep power on it nice flying plane you will love it i would use at least 90 oz servo for rudder and Hitec 645s or similar for elevators and ailerons which are around 110 or so ozs of torque dont take chances with a plane of this size . I would use at least a 1800 nicad pack or first choice i use is the metal Hydrate packs 1650 mah flies it all day long on one charge good luck

Bipelover; I have this combo, and enjoy it very much. I am a sport flier that enjoys alot of tumbling around, which this combo does very well. I couldn't care less about unlimited vertical, 3-D, etc., but that's just my prefference. I agree with BAS, that if you want all out performance, you'll want a 2.4 or maybe even a 50cc engine. My G-38 was looking for a home, and that's the plane it ended up in. Have fun...........

Bipelover; Sorry I forgot to mention my set up. I used all Hitec 645 MG sevos, a 2000mh NiMh 4.8 volt battery, and all Dubro hardware, except for the anodized control horn posts. As with all ARF's make sure you beef up the firewall and landing gear block areas. Oh yes, I did use a Sullivan tail wheel assembly, instead of the supplied set up.........

I've heard alot of you guys talk about beefing the firewall up on planes. Could you give me some kind of idea as to what to do on this. I don't want a botched up job on such a nice plane. All pointers are appreciated. THANKS!

Bipelover; I am highly allergic to CA glues, so for years I've had to fly mostly ARF planes. Ususal beefing areas are the firewall, where I glass and tri-stock, and landing gear blocks where I do the same. With the Hurricane, the firewall is already taken care of with both, but I did use aluminum L- braces the connect the firewall with the plywood sides, just for insurance. 2 brackets on each side.....

Hey jbflier my Hurricane finally came today and it's everything that you and all the other Hurricane owners said and then some. Definitely well worth the money that's for sure. Did you soft mount your G-38 with the vibration dampeners or did you solid mount it to the firewall? I also know you said that the g-38 would fly the plane but do you have to fly at full throttle all the time or only if starting to do a loop or something? I hate to keep bothering you with silly questions but I'd hate to crash this beauty first time out. All the hardware that came with it looks good so I don't think I'll change anything. Thanks for all your help!

Your G-38 will fly it just fine at about 1/2 throttle. The Hurricane has a speed groove where it will do anything you ask without getting sensitive. You will find this speed probably before the first flight has ended, its that obvious, and its slower than you think it should be. Start with the recommended control throws and C.G. and work from there. If you have no experience with large planes you picked the perfect place to start, this plane is so easy to fly you're gonna be amazed.

Thanks Outcast I appreciate the info on the flight charcteristics for the Hurricane. I can't wait to get this thing in the air. If it looks half as good in the sky as it does in the box it's gonna be awesome. Would you solid mount the engine or rubber mount it? I'm not sure as to which way to go on this part of it. Any help is appreciated. THANKS!

I don't rubber mount gas engines, even my DA 100 is solid mounted. My old hurricane has a Brison 2.4 now my son has taken over the plane, so I just started a new one with a Brison 3.2. The problem I see with soft mounts is that if they hold a 5 pound motor at 10 G's they are too stiff to be of real use. You will find many however who disagree with this, but in 10 years of flying gas I've never had a problem.
