How are these ARF's ?
Is the construction good ?
Are they good planes ? Go together well ? Fly well ?
I was thinking of getting the spitfire. Are the retracts any good for flying of grass? Can you replace them with permanent landing gear or third party retracts ?
I have never bought one of the World Models ARF's and I am not sure if many people have them at my club, so I was just wondering if anyone could comment on them.
Thanks

I've got 2 flying, Aircombat Zero and .45 size Miss America P-51, and 3 more waiting for assembly. I've found they are built well, finished well, and fly great. Are they perfect, no, but for the price they are quite a good value. The retracts on my P-51 have done ok on grass so far, but it's still quite new and doesn't have many flights. It would be easy to change the whole unit, or just the struts. I guess permanant gear could be installed, but that seems to take something away from a Stang or Spit.

I had the WM T34, SS40, Skyraider Mach II and SuperChipmunk. I loved the Super Chipmunk. Not that scale but not that off scale either. The T34 is well built and flies like a dream. The SS40 with my Rossi 45 will give me unlimited vertical and flies so well. Skyraider I hated, not into light planes but it was so easy to build.
I will rate WM 9/10 in terms of value. They are good enough for the beginner, intermediate and advanced pilot to really enjoy the world of RC planes.

I'm almost done with my WM Spit .60 review for RCU. I've gotten as far as taxi'ing the plane around but didn't fly it yet due to engine issues and such. It's either raining or windy as hell.
Should be posted next week, planning on flying it next Tuesday, weather channel says it'll be nice out
The retracts seem good quality, just a little bit squirrley on the ground handling.

I just ended building the VM 60 spit. I find the ARF of good quality with sturdy 3/16 retracts. Only point is the hardware, linkages, which are not that ez to install.
problem of course is the covering...as it is painted, finding a match in case of dent of needed repair would be a pain!!

I think the covering is oracote Olive Drab with the white being the only thing painted on.
This is by looks only, I've never matched a swatch up to a roll to check it. The white shouldn't be that hard to match.

FIRST i think you should've done a search before you started this thread... there are at least a dozen threads regarding WM. you'll find a lot of useful information there.
given that
i'm still going to answer your post since i'm quite a fan of WM. they aren't the most scale planes but they do come together easily and fly very well. i've had many WM ARF kits (glow) and found them all very satisfying. among them is two of my all time favorite planes.
Cap232 - great first aerobatic plane
Rambler 30 - my favorite plane. i've had two
Utimate 30 - awesome small bipe
Zen 50 - slices through wind with precision
Piper Cub 26 (avatar) - another one of my favorites
i've also built a few supersports for friends.
as tIANci put it, 9/10 in value and that's because they arent that cheap!!!

Yeah ... I forgot my good old Rambler 45 ... lovely plane to fly. First flight was with a TT61, it made the plane lousy, an SC46 was perfect.

The guy is new and probably does not know how the whole thing works or the countless features available. Leave him alone.

Snoop - alright alright [8D] next time i'll say it nicely. this post is not half as annoying as the numerous "what second plane" posts there are. lol. the only posts that never bore me are maidens and solos, which are always welcome

Actually believe it or not I used the search feature to find info on my WM Spit and there were only a handfull of them, each with a few posts.
Can't really blame the guy for the post. It's way better then "What should I get for my second plane?" post. Even better... All the "micro electric" heli questions in the Heli general section.

i doubt they can compare to WM! i stopped by radar rc during my trip to hong kong and picked up another cub 26 and the ultimate 40s. both look of excellent quality and i'm sure will fly great.

I had a chance to fly my new CAP232-46R last night. Wonderful model, with a 46AX it weighs just over 5 lbs. Very nice covering, ToughLon it's called. Even the decals and emblems are printed into the covering, in fact the whole scheme is printed into the covering.
It does have the SNAP habit, but hey, it's a acro type model. Be careful. Have fun. Can't go wrong with WM
