Had a VMar trainer back when this thread was new.... beat the daylights out of it and it just kept going for years until the wood was finally fuel soaked enough to give up the ghost

I have built and flown two Vmar kits. The DO335 and Cessna Skylane with brushless motors.. Both fly great and have a high amount of scale detail. All parts fit together very well. Kits are very complete with some nice hardware.

I have a Vmar Cap 232 arriving tomorrow. Will be doing a full build thread on it soon. $117 shipped for a 64" aerobatic is worth the gamble in my book, we shall see. I have a trusty OS 75AX planned for it.

I also have a Seagull Decathlon... It's quality is way above Vmar but not up to WM standards.. Still a good buy for the money..
This reply is MANY years later, but I can say that Seagull models are very good. I'm disappointed Kange/Kanke went away. Their stuff was gorgeous.

I’ve returned to RC after two decades of raising a family. My old Vmar Bird Dog is again flying after 18 years of hanging on my bonus room ceiling; she still has an outdated Spektrum OG DX6 that’s working just fine (my new FMS T-28 has a RadioMaster TX16s MkII).

She’s a little tired looking, and the covering is sagging and yellowing, but the wood has held up nicely (I do like that Vietnamese wood smell ). I replaced the stock tires with some 2.5” foam ones, and also upgraded the ESC to a Hobbywing 40A. Also put in a new 1000kv outrunner.

I’ve put a dozen or so flights on it in the past week, with a 3S 2200mah pack. She still floats wonderfully. Taking off is still a challenge and she likes to dance all over the place.

A free Carbon Cub S2 followed me home yesterday, so it’ll share the brunt of learning to really fly well again, and hopefully relegate my old Bird Dog to back up plane and keepsake.
