I have an Eagle trainer. The wing is held on with rubber bands. I would like to change this to a bolt on wing. has anyone done this? I would like to hear how this should be done.

Food for thought: Not long after I had soloed my eagle I learned an additional lesson. I learned about depth perception, and making sure you come down on your side of the big tree on approach. The rubber bands gave out on impact and left me with an easy repair.

The last two Eagle trainers I saw were switched to bolt-on. Both had interference between the aileron torque rods and the blocks for the rear bolts. By the time the blocks were ground down and sawn away to make clearance for the aileron controls, there was very little left of the blocks.

I watched the wing bolts pull out of one of these planes, and the subsequent destructive crash. The second plane was sold, don't know how it fared.

My suggestion is to leave the Eagle II as is, and instead spend your time building a plane that was designed for bolt-on wings.

I agree, save the bolts for your second or (better yet) third plane

Keep the rubber bands on this one and don't worry about the looks etc., it isn't really worth the trouble on your first plane. Save it for the next one. Besides, as said before it could still save your plane, and if you aren't sure of what you are doing you may end up messing it up and loosing a wing. Sorry to be so negative but at this point it's a waste. ENJOY !!!! RED
