Hi all,
I'm finishing up the wife's Sig Rascal EP ARF (400 size), and do not want to use the stock brass cable and gem clip set up for the pushrods. I would prefer to use piano wire. Has anyone else done this? What size wire did you use? Did you have to install a larger pushrod tube?

I've used the Dubro micro pushrods (I think they're 0.047" ) in the past on similar size planes. Not sure if they will fit in the existing tubing. Might try cutting a small piece(1/4" off an end) of one of the tubes in the plane, and take it to the LHS to get a close fit...

Nick, I can't speak for the smaller Rascal, but I used metal pushrods in my Rascal 40 and they work great. They are 2-56 size, and I ran them in the tubes that were in the plane, just curved them slightly to follow the bend of the tubes. One size down from 2-56 would still be stiff enough, I think so they don't buckle under compression loads; the pushrod tubes don't have to fit real close; I think it's probably better if they'r a little big for the wire so you don't get any binding.
