Default RACING DEVIL HOBBY TRADERS

Has anyone done business with this company from British Colombia, Canada?? They seem to have some pretty good prices and the shipping is reasonable. I am also impressed with how quickly and completely they (Mickey), has answered some of my questions via e-mail.

I am concerned about surprises though, like U.S. Customs slapping a duty or other tax on a model airplane shipment. Does anyone know that has purchased from them?

I got a Minicraft Edge from them not long ago. No delays or complications with shipping, no outrageous charges, nice clean deal. Nice price on a great model too.

Thanks,
I was just concerned about any extra VAT or Duty charges. RDT was not able to advise on those and referred me to U.S. Customs. I am still waiting on an answer from them.

Here's an update for anyone interested.
Purchased a Pacific Aeromodel Edge 540T 50cc size from them at auction for $279.00 plus $35.00 for FEDEX shipping in the USA or Canada as stated in the listing. Sounds like a pretty good deal huh? Then I get this e-mail that I live in "one of those areas where the $35.00 shipping charge does not apply" and that the shipping will cost $110.00[:@]. Needless to say I told them where they could stick the airplane. I find it interesting that a second plane was listed by them as a buy it now only for $409.00. I made several inquiries via e-mail prior to the sale. All of my questions were answered and they were very helpful, but did avoid the shipping issue. I was asked to provide my shipping address and zip code and did so twice with no response. I have learned from this experience and will only deal with the manufacturer or LHS in the future. If you choose to deal with these folks just be advised.

They quoted me $180 shipping via FEDEX ground for the same kit. I don't know where I would need to live to qualify for the $35 shipping quoted on their eBay page.

That said, they have some nice-looking plane.

It seems as though MajortomRCU, was the only person so far to get a ligitimate deal. Florida obviously as farther away from British Columbia for shipping purposes than the U.S. Northeast. That being said, then why would the shipping more expensive to the N.E. States than to Florida? I think that I recall that MajortomRCU is also from the N.E. and that makes you wonder where the $35.00 shipping charges stated for the USA and Canada really encompass. I actually really want the kit, but not at those shipping fees. In further e-mails today they, RDT (And the third different contact person) offered to cancel the sale to avoid being reported to that other "auction site" by me. I suggested that in the future that they be more specific as to where additional charges would be imposed to the U.S. I was told that the matter would be taken up with the manager. Now if I was the manager, I would have eaten this deal to avoid exactly what is going on here, the negative comments. I as a manager would have completed the transaction even at a loss for the positive word of mouth effects. I have saved all of the e-mail correspondence in the event that there could be a possible problem with that other "auction site". The old adage still holds true, "If the deal is too good to be true, it probably is". Needless to say I have no faith in Canadian companies now after this. That is a shame as my brother in law is Canadian and is a great guy. IMHO they also make some of the finest beer in the world.. Does this scenario sound similar to some who have dealt with GSP?? Sounds like it to me.
