I have a chance to get a good deal on this plane and I want to know anything good or bad about the plane. The plane in question is the two servo wing and is NIB. I plan to use a ZDZ 80 single and need to know if I will have to add a lot of nose weight like I did for my Sukhoi. How well will this Bird 3D with a zdz 80 on it? Can this plane come in at 24 to 25lbs? Any comments would be appreciated. I would like to hear all positive or negitive comments. Thanks

I have the airplane with the ZDZ 80.
I am not a 3D pilot so I can't help you there.
Throw the landing gear away and get something else. It has been formed over a sharp edge and will break at the slightest overload.
Back up the servo mounting areas. 1/8 lite ply is just not adaquate to hold servos with sheet metal screws.
Put a dowel in the forward aluminum stab tube to prevent it from coming out and having the stab rotate.
I think the ailerons should be static balanced even with two servo's per aileron.
Mine weighed 25#
I put both ignition and receiver batteries just behind the firewall and did not have to add nose wt.

I have one with a Brison 6.4 in it. Pretty much stock. I lightened the airlerons and recovered them and use the Single servo version. I have JR 8411s with the little output shaft reinforcements.
The stock gear is cr*p. Go buy the TNT gear. With the Brison, my weighs in a 27lbs with the batteries all up front. It's a little nose heavy for radical 3d, this way, but it flies very nice.
If you can built it with the ZDZ and keep things balanced without extra weight, you will have nice flying plane. I have the Cap and ZDZ ready to go on the bench, but I'm having a good time with the Extra now that I got all the gremlins out.
Regards,
Lee

Static balance of the ailerons is putting a 2 oz wt 4" ahead of the aileron hinge line on a rod that is connected to the aileron on the tip of the wing
