My cap is extremely tail heavy with an OS 46FX. I'm not sure which engine i would have to use to balance on CG but it would have to be big without adding allot of lead. I'm affraid it would bring the wing loading up too far and i would have a poor flying plane.
Has anyone else had this same problem with this plane?
Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

A Tiger Shark 75 is a perfect match for your cap. I had a Webra 50 in mine at first and it was tail heavy so in went the 75 and it balanced perfect and it's probably the best engine they have. Mine was ringed but my bud had one that was abc and there was only a 200 rpm dif between the two on the same prop and fuel the ringed version cranks a little more rpm's and both sip fuel like a 46 instead of a 75.

Hmmm, not sure where your battery and electronics are but mine was setup per the instructions and balanced perfectly without any weight. Same engine setup, standard electronics and fuel tank. Make sure you mounted the engine with the correct distance from firewall to prop hub, maybe engine is further aft than mine was. Don't have the plane anymore but it was setup per instructions and flew well as such (but the .46FX was by no means a power monster for this plane).

Thanks for the info guys.
I bought the plane used and i don't have the instructions so i am going by where he had the engine mounted which was an OS 46FX and found the CG location on a web site.
If some one knows how far to mount the engine prop hub from the firewall i would be greatfull for the information.

I have 2 of these CAP's. One with a OS 52 and another with a Saito 72.
Yes, they tend to be tail heavy, but instead of putting dead weight on the front, move your Rx battery on top of the fuel tank.
Make sure that it is secure there and doesn't move.
I had to add almost 2 oz. of lead with the OS 52.
The manual says that the CG should be 3 3/16" from the L.E (close to the fuselage) measured with the plane upside down.
Make sure that the CG is correct or the plane will snap on high elevator rates.

Sure looks nice. A few thoughts...
4 strokes are heavier than 2 strokes, and have great torque for all the trick 3D stuff. Personally I would look at a Saito 80 or better. Batt & receiver to the nose, try pull - pull on the rudder (if you dont have it already), light tail wheel and assy, Aluminum nose cones are heavier than plastic (and look better) and possibly mount your throttle servo farther in the nose if you can.

I found out why it was so tail heavy. Someone had glued 3 1/2 oz of lead in the very back of the fuse under the tail. I had to cut into the fuse to find it. It should fly allot better without all the extra weight in the tail and added in the nose.

Since you found the problem, I wouldn't worry about the engine to prop hub location like I mentioned earlier. That was my first thought since I had thee xact same setup and it balanced correctly. Now that you've found the culprit, check the balance again and I'm sure it'll be fine.
