Well after setting the throws and getting the CG close I headed off to the Field with it and brought along the nexstar that I have been flying the last few weeks.
Got to the Field and set up the Space walker for some ground handling checks and familiarization.
Alittle more speed and getting the tail off he ground, every thing was looking good. Turned around at the end of the strip heading back against the wind flying the tail off and trimming on the Tx, then a gust of wind came and the plane was 10 ft in the air.[X(]
Throttle back and tried to set it down, the thing just kept floating and floating and running out of runway. Throttle up and around we go, with very heavy down on the elevator to keep it from climbing out. Throttle back on base, even more on final, nice and strait with runway. flare, flare, flare, flare, and almost a 3 point.
This thing lands half of the speed of my trainer.

Full scale test pilots will tell you not to ever start up and taxy unless you are ready to fly. There have probably been more ground loops and crashes from not planning too fly. Now have fun and fly.

Geez: Give the guy a break, he was only doing what I always do...make an excuse to fly a new airplane. I always use that one...oops..Did I say that out loud?
Have fun with your new Aircraft.
Just one question..if you had it up 10ft. why not fly it around a bit?
ENJOY
Tom

It was pretty gusty, and at a cross wind, but the biggest factor was having the stick at about 3/4 throw just to keep it from climbing.
Other then that it was ready to fly. Having set the throws between Mid. and Max on all surfaces checking and re-checking CG. I was just hoping to get the feel of it ( ground handling) and return to my trainer to build some confidence, an then return to the Spacewalker.
Being this was my first ARF I would like to shake it down , or vibrate it up , to see what I may have missed, or for a control binding up or ??.
The next day I checked it over again and adjusted the elevator and flew it for about 3 minutes and the trim was still off, and then darkness set in.
Tomorrow I hope to burn some fuel in it if weather will cooperate.
I still cant get over it slow flight handiling and looks!

Three successful flights on it today trimmed out fairly nice.
Sun in my eyes and got to the point of getting blinded/ disoriented a few times, which I never experienced before.
Decided to put it away till weekend.

I hope I will never have to post on the crash forum for a long time.
(Just knocked on my China Cab), witch sent my 4 German Shepherds in to a frenzy thinking some one is at the door , and now the baby is waking up!
See what you have done.
