I know the balance point on this plane on CG website shows to be 1 7/8 to 2 7/8 back from leading edge bottom wing. But, does it balance right side up or upside down? And what is the best CG to do things like knife edge and flat spins?

Twistr, I have the kit not the ARF but the plane is the same I think. I balance mine inverted using the bottem wing. (which is on top since the plane is inverted) I have it at 3-1/8" best I can tell. I am having to use my finges since the CG machine won't work on this plane. It will knife edge loop/flat spin/Lomcevac, you name it. Come to Elk City for our fly in on Sept 17th and I'll let you fly it.

Balance it right side up. As far a CG its best to fly it were in the foward CG point. After you can move it back a bit at a time but there's a fine line between love and hate. I've been flying them for years and love tem. Mike

Mike I haven't found a bad place in the CG range on mine. This is my second CG ULT and it's 5 years old. I would try it even further back but I don't want to add any lead. As it is I have a 1500mah battery zip tied to the 1st bulkhead behind the wing opening. There has to be a point were the thing gets unstable i just have not found it.

Your right Its a darn good flyer. What you could try is those stick on weights by the tailwheel. Just a small amount at a time. I fly mine scale so I have about middle CG. I've found that the throws on the flying surfaces do most the work. Mike

I balance mine right side up in a nose to tail cradle and drop a pendulum. I also put the battery on top of the bottom wing. The batteries travel from airplane to airplane to prevent so darn many flight packs to cycle and go bad.
With my other Ultimate the flight characteristics improved substantially and unexpectedly when the battery pack was lowered. Only flown this one with a wing-mounted pack.

I lost an N-strut bolt and the top wing pin yesterday. Fortunately it was at disassembly.
Assembly/disassembly for the Ultimate always seems long. Well … maybe I am the only one who lays a screw on the bench and then looks for a half hour to find it.
Has anyone developed a method for captive screws in the N-struts, the wing? Also it seems to take forever to align and insert the top wing pin.
Is anyone using nylon wing bolts? What size?
Thanks.
