Default Is this thing released yet?

I saw in the new MAN that Great Planes has a 1.20 size Curtis Hawk ARF. I guess it's the same size as the Stearman. This looks like a great plane (there's a pun in there somewhere). Anybody seen one yet?

Ten bucks says its vaporware. They're testing the waters, to see how many guys post breathless anticipatory comments; gives 'em an idea of how the new offering will sell...

First I have heard of it. I quit getting MAN last year since it didn't offer much anymore. Maybe you could scan and post the ad?

Ju want it-Ju got it. It has about 6 more inches of wing than the GP Stearman--nice size plane. I bet a G-26 will be awesome for it.

It's not on www.greatplanes.com so I'd guess the prototype is all that currently exists.

Here's the stock number and suggested retail price. Delivery is estimated to be in December of this year.

GPMA1219 CURTISS P-6E HAWK 60-120 ARF $599.99

Not really "officially" announced in ads or on the web page, but it has been shown around.

600 bucks? Damn, they're proud of that thing. The Stearmans are about the same size, $200 less. But you're right, it will be on MY list, too I think they got a winner here.

That $600 is likely the MSRP they slap on it so it makes you feel like your getting a discount when you pay the real price like the Stearmans. I would guess the price will be identical to the Stearmans they have.

Great planers wont add any product to their site until its ready to ship or shipping so dont put any faith to see it there for a while.

If they ever do market this thing, it will be one of those "must have" planes on my list.

Info in regards to this model:

Check with: www.towerhobbies.com Click on "Just Announced " icon and look for the Great Planes Curtis Hawk P6-E ARF...It is listed for $479.99,and available the end of Oct....Alot of info is there also.......Dosen't get any better than that...If I decide to get one,I'll use a G-26 gasser in it...Looks like there is plenty of room in this one for a gasser...LHS probably won't get one until November...Anyway,just a wait and see thing here..don't think anyone will be disappointed...

Looking at the close-up, there appears to be enough room above the prop hub for an upright engine. Can anyone say "Fuji 4-stroke"?

the prop in the pic just barely clears the cowl, LOL

looks funny as if its under propped and/or under powered

You could scratch build one in the time it'll take to bring that beast to market.....

Looks beautiful. But $479.99 is pushing what my tiny part of the market can bear.[]

Agreeded.
$379 from a $499 retail price - like the PT-17 Stearman - and I'd buy one. But I'm with you on that $479 price tag - just too much. []

Take a look at their little electric Corsair and Hellcat ARFs. They've been advertised since June that I know of - and they're still not available. Last I saw at Tower was Oct. Not good.[]

I can't see any reason it should be $100.00 more than the Stearman. Marketing must be seeing how far they can push it.

Let's see:

It is a larger model

- It has a much more complicated color scheme

- There's a large painted fiberglass cowl

- It's the only one of it's type to be available,

- plus it looks really cool!

And, there's a lot to be said for Cool....

That's worth an additional hundred bucks by itself
