Hi gents,

I'm a huge fan of the P-47 ( Jug ) Thunderbolt. I was condidering this kit only if I can use a gas engine and not be highly over powered. I also was wanting retracts that are reliable and not air powered.

All opinions are welcome.

Just read this Thread over, plenty of retract talk, and gas engines as well.

I don't have time to read all the post. All I need is a simple reply from somebody who has a gas engine and the best retracts other then the stock.

pardon my typing i can only use one hand right now due to a hoacky incident. anyway, pearl 414, i have read most of this thread over time and most of the retract talk is non mechanical stuff. much more robart air etc... through my research here are a few good alternatives i believe: http://www.3dxhobbies.com/Mechanical..._p/buz4060.htm and http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXMJK0&P=7
to dasintex and pe2fan, if you dont want to respond just keep you mouth shut. not everyone has time to spend hours researching this. if you were wise you may understand this. i like to build and fly but i have other more important commitments such as family etc.. so keep it to yourself.

Mike,

Thanks for the links on the retracts. A simple post like you made was all I needed to save me much reading. I have family, work, college and other hobbies to tend to other then rc, something dasintex and pe2fan apparantely don't understand. Hope to have this kit in the air this summer. Hope the hockey hand heals!!

Thanks,

Corey

pearl 414,
glad you found the info useful. i think i'm going to try the 3x setup, i hear they are good. i fly mine with an os91fx with a pitts muffler and it flies good. i'm in the process of building the topflight giant scale p51 so i wiil save the good retracts ($) for this plane. again dastex if you have nothing to offer at this point, just your mouth!

Hi all I want to know if this plane could be powered by a Saito 82. I have one to put in the P47, has anyone here flown this plane with this engine?

Again, another helping of Whatever is needed.

Ralph L.

The Saito 82 may be a alright, it should pull it around, probably wouldn't be a screamer, I'm comparing this to the RCV 91CD I'm running in it, and it flys it real scale, no exotic aerobatics.

See, I can lend some advice, so be nice to me now, as Rodney King said "can't we all just get along".

Dasintex.

H9 says "60 2-stroke / 72-100 4-stroke" but I can't remember any one posting here that uses less than a 91 fs. I am at higher elevation so a larger engine is required but my Saito 125 is probably overkill!

I am cleaning and repairing my plane. I will be changing the larger fuel tank for the smaller smoke tank. I always have 1/2 tank fuel left anyway and would like longer smoke duration. Can't wait!

dasintex,
are the mechanical retracts that come with the p47 85 or 90 degree? they look like they are 90 but it seems alot of guys are replacing them (upgrade to air) with 85. what's the scoop?

I don't recall, but I would think they are 85 Degrees, they would have to be, because of the wing dyhedral; the air upgrades are and should be 85 degrees.

thought i,d post this video link of my p47 flying on a club flying day, dont remember seeing any on this post, you,ll have to watch some other stuff as well, its powered by a saito 125, and built straight from the box, one of the wheels did,nt retract properly in the air, but this was solved by twisting the gear door in a little so the airflow assists it to close properly.look at the "interesting video clip". http://www.amarc2002.co.uk/
