hey, i have had this problem with my top wing cabane mounting
brackets breaking in flight, not once, but 2 times and each time i call up GREAT PLANES and they send me a replacement sack of the shiny metal brackets for the entire plane. thanks to the people in customer service i could have the plane back in the air by the next weekend if i called them by monday or tuesday. i just got tired of not being able to fly this bird at its full potential, wondering if the shiny metal L brackets that hold the top wing to the fuse cabanes were going to break again. both times i noticed
the plane flying a little different when the front brackets broke and was able to get the plane back on the ground before the top wing totally came off in flight. GREAT PLANES has done a fabulous job in taking care of anyone that has had problems with this set of brackets.... met quite a few people with the 1/3 PITTS at flyins
and IMAA events the past 6 months that have the same plane both with the bigger gas engines and even the ones with the recommended gas or glow engines, and they to have experienced the same bracket problems. finally i went to a metal shop and had the L brackets fabricated out of stainless steel and they work just fine. the metal shop guy said the 90 degree bend in those shiny brackets was to much of a bend for that type of metal and that they were fatigued when bent. not much money out of pocket for the custom brackets, but at least i can fly without
worrying if the plane will stay together..
IF ANYONE HAS THE ADDRESS TO THE GREAT PLANES R & D DEPARTMENT...... I WILL GLADLY SEND THE BROKEN L BRACKETS TO THEM SO THEY CAN BE INSPECTED FOR QUALITY PURPPOSES AND HOPEFULLY THEY CAN COME UP WITH ANOTHER PLAN FOR THEM SO MANY MORE WILL NOT HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM!!!!!!!!
THANKS
PITTSMAN
