Default joss stick/biggest engine ?

Hi Alfred
I,m flying mine with an OS 91 FX and it performs great. It also balanced without any problems. I think anything over a 120 would be overkill. Gil

I would not put a G23 on the Joss Stick! The engine although is a good one, it WAY too heavy for the # of square inches of wing.

If you want to put a gasser on the JS, use the RCS 1.44, or MVVS 1.6.

They are both much lighter than the G23.

They both put out a lot more power too!

Default Joss Stik-Love Em

I am on my second wing and orig. fuse. I lost the wing when I hit an outhouse that someone moved, ya I know they did. This is one of my favorite knock around planes. I have tried several options and like my Saito 91S for general flying and float flying. For a little more action I have flown it with an OS 91FX and it is hot. Either are great! I also have two spare fuselages and an extra wing, so I will be flying it for some time to come. It is 5 years old now.

I've got an MDS 148 on mine. It flies like a Stick. This plane has always been heavy IMO. I had an OS120 Surpass on it- but marginal performance at this altitude. I had a ST G-90 and still had only marginal performance here.

The MDS was just the right combination of engine and weight for the plane.

If I recall the max recommended engine is around 1.08 2-s
the plane is heavy o.k. I flew mine with a 91 2-s.
It gave up when I started to do blenders, the fus kind of twisted a little bit.-
my felling is that if you put a lot of engine to do more with it, you will fatigate the fus fast, nevertheless if you insist, change the hardware for 4-40 on everything!, that is how I lost mine, the elevator clevis pin just disapeared!!

Default Joss Stick

The Joss Stick comes out nose heavy with a Magnum 1.08. I moved the battery to the rear of the radio compartment and it is still slightly nose heavy. When a friend of mine built his, I recommended he put the elevator and rudder servos in the tail. This gave him a good CG with the 1.08.

If you do use the 3000, here's what I would recommend:
1. Use dual aileron servos.
2. Use dual elevator servos located in the tail. I wouldn't trust a wood elevator joiner with a 3000.
3. Use pull-pull for the rudder servo.
4. Cut the nose off forward of the wing by half and fiberglass the firewall in place.
5. Fiberglass the wing joint.
6. Add bracing wires to the fin and stab.
7. Use good pinned hinges.

It will take some work, but it is doable. I have thought of doing it myself, just haven't gotten around to it.
