Your best bet might be to get a standard Cub ARF (Goldberg is releasing one, or find old O.O.P. GP ARF), then buy the aftermarket cowl to make it Super. Great Planes used to offer one, and I would guess either Stans or Fiberglass Specialties also have them. After that, it is only a matter of changing the little details to the scale extent you want to take it. Good luck.

I'm betting that the GP Cub was taken from the old Kyosho ARF Cub.
I had one of those, and a Sig Smith MiniPlane cowl fit perfectly; and looked like a genuine Super Cub.
An easy check would be to call Stan's or FiberGlass Specialties; one of them is bound to make a Smith cowl. Ask them to measure it, and compare to measurements you've taken from the nose of your Cub.
I wish I had a scanner, since the photo I have of mine pre-dates digital camera days. That cowl really makes a completely different airplane out of it.

I've been working with a manufacture on getting a Super Cub cowling made for the GP Cub ARF. We have tried several Super Cub Cowlings out there.
The Kyosho Cub has only 70 inch span, where as the GP Cub is 81 inches. I just did a search on the Internet an found this information on Kyosho's japanese site. Remember to that G.P. makes a four cubs. A 20, 40 and 60 size kit and then the 40 ARF, which is bigger than the 40 kit.
If any one knows of any Super Cub out there let me know or PM me!
Looking for a
Heights of about 5-7/8"
Length of about 4-7/8" to 5"
Width of 5-1/2 to 6-1/2"
I have talked to
Fiberglass Specialites
Stans Fibertech
Bought IKON Northwest's cowling, didn't fit and it was 1/5 scale.
The G.P Cub ARF is an odd ball size as it is in between 1/6 and 1/5 scale.

Interesting. The one I handled seemed to be the same size as the Kyosho I had; and the kid said it was an ARF. I didn't look that closely; perhaps it was the 40 kit that someone did an exceptional job building.
Well, good luck in your quest.

I have the 40 kyosho cub but it is old now and I was either going to buy a new ARF, or strip the whole plane down, do some mods, and make it look a little nicer. I like the looks of the super cub so that's why I was wondering. I guess really all you really need is a cowl. Anyone here ever flown one of the kyosho cubs? Semi- sym. wing, light, aerobatic, overpowered, just an all out good airplane. I was thinking if I had a cowl like a super cub I would mount the engine on its side.
Maybe even flaps?[sm=confused.gif][sm=biggrin.gif]

Just thought I would revive this thread, Still looking for a Super Cub cowling for the Thunder Tiger J-3 Cub 81"! I just emailed Page Aviation, so we'll see what they say!
If any of you have any ideas on any other sources other than ones listed in the previous threads, let me know!

It is crazy that there are no good Super Cub kits or ARFs in 1/5 scale. Dozens of J-3s and not one Super Cub. I suggested to Sig that they release a Super Cub based on their 1/5th J-3 and recieved no response. It seems like an easy way to come out with a new product that would be wildly popular! Just bewildering.
