Hi friends,
I am planning on a second plane.
Some one at my airfield is selling a Hobbico Air Vista already built with a tuned pipe but no motor or servos for $150. The plane looks to be in good shape.
Someone else recommended that I buy a Carl Goldberg Tiger 2 Arf. Which I would buy new.
Anyone out there have an opinion on which may be a better second plane?
Thanks,

How well do you fly your trainer?
Based on that answer, i would recommend
either:
1) the Avistar Arf -- with a 40 size engine, semi-symettrical wing, so it is a bit more acrobatic
or,
2) 40 size, the great planes Easy Sport, mid wing, still has a dihedral (sp)
or,
3) 60 size, the Sig Four Star, low wing, great plane and bigger so more stable
All good choices, and each with its own merits

Go with a plane with a constant cord wing, go with a four star, super sportster, or tiger 60 size. All of these I believe come in arfs or kits. You can learn some aerobatics and land any of these planes like trainers.

Carl Goldberg Tiger 2 0.60 size!!! Because you already have the motor.
At my field there are about 8 of this tiger size .40 and their owners loves them.
As matter of fact I bought one to use it as a trainer for my son.
Also take a look to Ultra Stick 0.60 I used to fly the 1.20 size, that was my second plane and it was easer than the trainer!!!

I was planning to maybe keep my current trainer, trimming down the 73" wing span and make it a clipped wing. But even if I do not keep the plane I am not crazy about the performance of the Tiger .60 engine so I am going to get something else on a trade maybe towards a .40 or .46 size.
So with this in mind I am guessing you would vote for the Goldberg Tiger II .40 size.
In my originating thread I incorrectly named the Hobbico plane.
it is actually named the Sky Vista.
Thanks,

I would go with one of three planes :
1) SIG 4* 60 ARF
2) SIG Rascal 40 - ARF
3) GP Spacewalker.
As someone else mentioned, not a bad plane in the bunch.

The image in my avatar is the Tiger 2 I built last year. You can't get a better second plane. It is very flexible, and can accomodate a flyer who can barely land his trainer, all the way to someone who wants to push the envelope and tear it up a little. You can read more about mine at http://www.angelfire.com/vt2/airwethead/tiger2.html
My friend has the arf, and it flies every bit as good as my kit built one. Get the tiger 2!!

I say the Sig Rascal, I am putting mine together now. Search this forum for the Sig Rascal .40 I have read only good things about them. They are also capable of good aerobatics too.
