Default VQ ARFS

I was looking at VQ's site yesterday, and the Russian mig3 they have really caught my attention. They want $200 for it with mechanical retracts and oleo struts installed. Seems like a decent deal to me. Has anyone had any experience with these guys? Let me know what you all think.

I have owned three VQ planes over the years. My first VQ plane was the P51 and it was a great little plane. It flew very nice and looked awesome. My second VQ plane was the macchi and it was crap. I bought it on ebay and it was a very old version of the plane. I don't fault VQ for that plane, because it was very old and I know they have made many improvements.

My third (and current) VQ plane is their new AT-6 texan. I just got it a few months ago and the quality is excellent. I purchased it directly from VQ. There was some damage to the plane, so a new one was shipped out right away. THe second plane also came damaged, so replacement parts were sent right away. They were very helpful and willing to make my plane right. THe build was very straightforward and the plane details are exceptional. I have not flown it yet, but if it flies anything like my p51 it should be great. I say go for it, you will be happy. VQ models does take some criticism here on this forum, but mostly that is related to their older arfs.

I have one of the original MIG3 from about 5-6 years ago, when Morris first started handleing the VQ line. It is one of the best flying planes I have ever owned. It's my "low pass baby", because is so rock steady. I flew it with an OS .91 Surpass, untill all the plastic finally gave-up. The newer kits now have much higher quality plastic parts. Damn good flying model. Cant say about the retract mounts on the newer kits, but mine needed to be reglued a couple of times.

I have the P40 and so does the ARf warbird expert Richard L , if you look under warbirds I have posted mine and he has a ton of flight vids .
I love the plane , quality and flying characteristics .
Mike from VQ is a very good guy , I feel the p40 is like getting a Top Flight p40 in the ARf form

As for the texan, it does not have monocote. I am not sure what you mean by "foam paper junk". The covering is a adhesive backed paper (like shelf paper). It is very durable and looks great.

The covering hold up very well and if its anything like the P40 , its has weathering and riviots on the surface . It can also be reheated on low

I had the P-39 Airacobra...Loved it... used it for a throw around screaming airplane...mounted an OS61 FX on it and it took off in a very short distance...it was fast even with the wheels hanging out..
I sold it and now have a VQ P-61 BlackWidow!!!!!!!! These are very Underrated kits...THey are worth the money..THe kits are always being improved and VQ is a family run business..The craftsmanship on my P-61 is incredible!!!! I would love to see a larger P-40 come out from them in the 80" plus range....
Buy a VQ you will love it.....
