Default Nexstar Q&A

I have a Nexstar that I got in a trade still NIB.I put it together and I have test flown it.2 flights on 2-19-06 without any problems except for the low speed needle being a tad rich.My question is should I epoxy the wing together and the tail surfaces on.I do not plan on taking it apart or selling it.I am keeping it for when my 4 year old son wants to learn to fly and whenever I feel like "Sunday Flying".
I don't like the flex in the wing at the center.I like the "security" of a wing and stab/fin that is epoxied together instead of being held together with screws, bolts and nuts.I will also be adding the flaps and aileron dual servos with a 7 or 8 channel reciever being that I already have a 6XA and 9C radios.I will not be using the "co-pilot" setup that came with the plane.
I know it is up to me to epoxy it or not,but let me here your opinions.I am not a "newbie" flyer. So you don't have to explain
the technical stuff.I have in my hanger ready to fly a TF Gold Edition P47 Thunderbolt,Ultra-Stick 60,Stinger 60,Stick 40,Something Extra,Dazzler ARF,Pizzaz,Modeltech ME109 .25,Funtana 40,GP Extra 300 40 size I am repairing,whats left of a Ultra-Stick 40(dumb thumbs),and a GP Chapman Flatout on brushless.Waiting to be built is an Ultimate Funfly,Hobby Hanger P47 .25,Seagull Edge 540 and
whatever I pickup in Perry next Saturday.

I would recommend against it for no other reason than you might decide to do what I did and "modify" it later. Check the thread titled [link=http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_3954411/tm.htm]"Bored"[/link].

I wouldn't, being a training plane its not under a huge amount of stress. And if you do crash, being able to take the pieces off will make it easer to fix.

All very good points.Thanks.

prophanger-Didn't really think about future repairs "if needed"
I did stress test it pretty good on my second flight .
and it handled everything I put it through.[:@][>:][:@][>:]

capfo-Doubt if I ever modify it.I have other "gravity challenged planes"
for that.

For now I think I will leave it as is considering the
future repairs"if needed"

Thanks Roy

I put the dual aileron servos and operational flaps on my Nexstar. Just make sure you crank up the deflections on the ailerons after you do that. When you decrease the area of the aileron by cutting them for the flaps you'll need more deflection, or at least realize you'll need rudder to turn...

I got a kick out of a buddy I let fly it. He's pretty good with RC models and tends to forget about rudder unless he's doing a maneuver that requires it. His exclamation after the first takeoff without the higher deflection rates was "IT WON'T TURN!" I had to chuckle...
