Default Help with PAC GBY 120

I recently finished a Pacific Aeromodels GBY 120. My plane came without an instruction manual. Got through it with little problems.
I only have one question for someone who has the manual. Are the wing support struts only for show or do they have a structual importance? I see they attach on the fuse end with screws, but they just fit into a hole in the wing. Should they be glued to the wing?
I hope not because they would be easily broken off in the "hangar". Seems they are just for show and I should leave them off when flying. If you have the manual please check it and give me and hand please.

Paul
