Anybody have any experience with this? http://www.horizonhobby.com/Products...ProdID=SEA4000
Apparently they have two different Edge 540 models made by Seagull. I'm interested in the one at the link above. .60 - .90 sized with a two-piece wing. I've already bought it and started putting it together and have a couple questions.
1. I don't have any experience with the control rods that come with it for the ailerons, rudder and elevators. Look like carbon fiber that gets glued into the clevises. These work okay or should I replace them?
2. Saito 1.00 or Saito 1.25?
3. Anybody else have one or have any experience with it and have any gotchas? It's going to replace my crashed Aeroworks .46 - .60 sized Edge.

One of the fellows at my home club has one with an Evolution 1.00 in it - I've had a fly of it and it flies great.
He used all of the stock standard equipment in it (built it in 2 nights then maidened it the following day) (He's the original miser when it comes to spending money on additional equipment) It's never given him an ounce of trouble. It was all set up as per the instructions (CofG in the middle of the recommended settings and throws as per those recommended in the manual)
Based on the Evo 1.00 working well - I'd go for the Saito 1.25 if there's a choice but the 1.00 will probably work fine also (I'm a power junkie - I tend to go for maximum engine size).
Good luck with yours
BTW - I hope you didn't have the 1.25 in your Aeroworks Edge!!

I have about a dozen flights on mine now with a Magnum 1.20. It surprisingly came out tail heavy even with the pull-pull setup. It flies like a dream though and lands even better. Wheels are a little small for my grass field and the tail assembly is pretty much worhless. It keeps bending when just rolling thru grass. The plane will do all of the moves I put it through. It will not do all 3-D but it is a great flier.
The control rods work just fine on mine so far. I CA'd then into the clevis and they aren't going anywhere. It was a very easy build per the instructions. The 1.20 just barely fits into the cowl but with a 4 stroke there is minimal cutting of the cowl anyway. Just cut away for the cooling fins on the engine. With that cutting I didn't even have to use a remote glow starter. The glow plug is in perfect position. I even used the included engine mount for the 1.20. Fit like a glove.

I have one with a Saito 100. The power is lacking with this motor. I use a 15-4W APC with 15% at sea level. I would suggest a 120 for this one

Just flew mine for the first time Last week. I used all the hardware that was included with the kit and found that to work very well so far. Mine is a tad underpowered as I put a tower hobbies 75 on it and it fit in the cowl without having to cut up the cowl, just a hole for the glo ign. and for the needle valve. I used the muffler that came with the motor and didn't have to use an ext. on it. The cutout for the muff. resulted in plenty of air flow to keep the engine cool. I used standard servos, so you see I'm not going to do any 3d stuff with it with those large control surfaces.
