Sorry to hear of your loss, I was lucky with mine and noticed the increased dihedral induced on one wing when doing a turn into wind, even then it did not dawn on me that the wing tube was suspect, well you know the story, but for others I will repeat it, a friend of mine was standing astride the fus in front of the elevators whilst I started the engine, once started he lifted his leg to release the plane and proptly kicked the top of the rudder off, Oh flip I said, when we de-rigged the plane I noticed a grey line around the wing tube which upon flexing opened into a crack, with minimal effort the wing tube broke in half, so my friend had damaged and saved my plane in one go., the replacement wing tube is much thicker and stronger.

Thanks Guys.

Hi, why don''t we see not a single video with this cmpro extra 330L doing a good hover ?? Georgee in his 40Mb video did something verticaly but at high altitude,it''s hard to realise how the plane behaves in hover at that altitude. Mabe he tells us... I''ve seen more then 12 different videos with this plane and not a single hover. I''m begining to think that it''s not capable of it. And where are those who pretend that "It hovers at half throtle"!! ok I say, show us ! I''ts that hard to have a friend video tape you for 1 minute ! even with the mobile phone. Or all af you that have this plane filmed it at the first flight and then ..nothing. Let''s see a video of someone that realy knows the job! not only take of and level flight, that can be donne with an Cessna, it''s not necessary to buy an Extra :P Peace.

Any plane will hover if the wind is strong enough, just hold it into wind and reduce throttle until you get it ballanced, reduce throttle a bit and it will go into an elevator, its a very boaring thing to vidieo and I don''t see what all the fuss you are making is about.

Hi Jak,
Well, first of all, this Extra is a dedicated pattern plane, not a 3D ship at all.Maybe thats the main reason you"re not finding hovering videos of this plane.Yes,a short hovering is possible with the Extra but if you fly it as a pattern plane-recommended -you"ll like it.I"ve had a Fuji50Ei in the Extra and it was able to hover for a short time.I used this birdy for light arobatic and freestyle and loved the way she flew.If you look for a dedicated 3D plane forget this one.
Regards,
Georgee

Don''t understand your comment on hovering, this plane will hover indefinatly if you ballance the throttle and elevator correctly, you may need to reflex the ailerons up a small amount to stop the wing rock, but it will definatly hover for as long as you like.
Just had a thought, do you guys know the difference between a hover, harrier and a prop hang? we could be talking on crossed perspectives here.
With the MVVS 45 in my old one it would do all three, a succesful prop hang is directly related to the engine power and thrust you can achive with the prop you have, I can prop hang my F3A Swallow and Leo with a low pitch big dia prop, but that is not what these planes are designed for, again anything will prop hang if you set it up correctly, just some are more work to keep them there than others.
I agree with you that this is not a dedicated 3d plane though, its too heavy for its wing area and will snap if provoked, it also takes some time to recover from a spin and needs oposite rudder to make it recover on line, it also reflexed up ailerons on landing to get the speed down for a short approuch, I have this set on a switched landing condition so that the ailerons reflex up at low throttle, but neutralise if I have to open up and go around, they are also available to me on a side slider so that I can use them in the hover harrier/elevator if the wind is not blowing enough to not need them.

Hi,
Ok,let me clear it.As for the hovering is concerned,my Extra with the Fuji 50Ei was able for just a limited hover because its a heavy, weak engine.
Yes,I know what"s the difference between a hover, harrier and a prop hang. What"s more I know a lot of other thing about rc.[sm=wink_smile.gif]

Sorry if you took my comments the wrong way I was not trying to insult your knowledge in any way, in fact I will throw myself on my sword as soon as I find it.
but I think that Jak may have confused a hover with a prop hang.

Hi i have this extra i have found it flies very well no obvious supprises you know as extra's tend to! One thing i will say is please add loads of extra strength inside the fuz above the landing gear. Mine cracked on the first gentle landing so i put some fibre glass paste all over it and its now ok. I used the CRRC Pro 45cc engine not the most powerful but it does all the usual stuff prop hangs harriers etc. I really want the 2.6m version now trouble is that means new engine etc. plus Al's hobbies put me off it saying its to heavy due to the paint job. I love it but its not practal for flying to much weight they tell me.
Good luck this model look the dogs bols in the air.
Iain
PS. i put smoke on mine its just awsome.

Have a look at: http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_4946730/tm.htm it shows the mods I did to make mine what I think it should of been in the first place, this has now been sold on and is still flying very well in capable hands.

I have not seen any of the original composite fus Extra's in the large size for sale for some time, so looks as though the non composite may have taken its place.

I wonder how many RC fans own the 330L and do not even get on a computer or even post in these forums? If any of you readers know, and have seen this plane fly...find out more and Please post it here. Thanks Capt,n

I had one of these and loved it. It was fantastic for pattern style of flying but a little heavy for 3D stuff. did harrier ok but hard work in a knife edge. the short fuz probably was to blame. That’s a had one as I lost it to the old favorite dead cell in flight. DON'T RELY ON YOUR BATTERY CHECKER CHANGE THE BATTERIES IF THEY ARE OLD. Most of all a loved the way it looked the paint job was lovely. I ordered a new one from a supplier local to me but it arrived damaged so I sent it back and the second was also damaged so I gave up and ordered a Pilot Rc Yak 50cc what a lovely plane superb quality build and really nice covering, and it came all the way from china with not a mark on it. Flies real great far better than the 330L. Not quite as pretty but hey.

Interesting as I found the 330L the easiest airframe I have ever had to knife edge, just shows how different set up can make a difference, I had adjustable incidence pins on the tailplane, but did not need them to trim the airframe it just flew straight off not trimming required, its only fialing I could find is that it did not want to come out of a spin, full opposite rudder and then only after an extra half turn, I did lots of mods to mine so that it would accomadate an in fus cannister silencer, fun until I sold it to a pal of mine who is still flying it to this day.

Hi folks

I had a similar crash like tazo171 last weekend. 3rd flight, no major problems and doing some simple aerobatics. During vertical down I pulled the elevator and the left wing collapsed. The carbon tube broke, the remaining plane crashed into a corn field.

I wrote a mail to CMPro, no response till now.
After reading this post, this is a design error an CMPro or the importing company must care about product liability. This thread was started years ago, but the tube seems to be the same weak part.

Sorry, I can't upload an image, but plane completely destroyed. The engine was 35ccm Roto with 20*10 carbon prop running at 6600 rpm, so not overpowered.

Kind regards

Peter
