Default CMP Extra 330L (2m) - new ARF

Hi

Have you seen it?
It's a new model from CMPro.
Funny, there isn't any info on (how poor this site is...) www.cmpairplane.com site yet (they don't care about information?).

It's a quite impressive kit. Epoxy fuselage and balsa-ply wings and stab.

Wingspan: 1960mm
Lenght: 1790mm
Weight: 6.8-71 kg
Engine: 40-50ccm gasser.
Wing profile: NACA 0014

Kit looks very well. Quality seems to be good (price too - ab. 380$).

What I don't like:
point hinges (changed for Robart one)
stab installation method (manual say's to glue stab to fuse using epoxy. there's no mention about additional "pegs" so I used a 4mm threaded rod)

What I like:
carbon landing gear
carbon wing joining pipe
It's designed for ZDZ-40, so I don't have to modify an engine box (I've a ZDZ-40 motor).
Complete pull-pull system for rudder included.

At the moment I'm working on elevator.

Hi Brian,

I had no time to finish it yet.
I'll try to finish it in next 2 weeks and maiden it.
I didn't like just a few things mentioned above. The rest seems to be ok.
Now I'm working on battery manager (I don't want to pay over 100-200$ for just a microprocessor and "2" transistors ).

Which ZDZ 40 motor would I use on this plane? http://www.scaleaero.com/zdz_engines.htm

This website lists two different ones.

It sounds like the ZDZ 40 is a real good engine.

Hi

All zdz40 are the same. The only difference is rear or side exhaust.

These engines seems to be great for this Extra. Even manual shows this motor on the pictures. You don't need to modify engine box, because it's already predrilled.

how is the covering? I have seen on past CMP models that the covering likes to fall off. Were you able to seal it down?

Luckily, I don't have any problems. The only poor thing regarding covering is a paint, which doesn't stick too well. it can be quite easily scratched and ripped off.

Hi

I'm sorry for not updating.
This weekend I'll play a big concert, so I've no time for other things than rehearsals.
I'll continue my work on Extra next week.

Hi folks,

Yesterday was the maiden flight of my Cmpro Extra 330L. It was totally uneventful.Everything was in order,no surprise at all.I"m using a brand new Fuji 50 Ei engine. After 10 min.break-in time we decided to fly the ship.Being really nervous I asked my friend Mrsad to lift the machine in tha air.Unfortunately after 4 laps te screws of the muffler got loose. So it was time to land.Otherwise I"m really happy with this machine.I strongly recommend for everybody.I"m going to fly with it day and night.
Pic is in my gallery.

Hey

This week I'm going to finish my Extra, because I had no time due to preparations to our concert.
Here are pictures:

Yes, I'm using a stock horns. They're a part of hinges, so I decided to use them. The rest of hinges I changed for Robart ones.

Georgee: I'm glad to hear that your Extra flies great. I'm bit more relaxed about mine now

Makes me wonder how well this toy Torque Rolls or Hovers is it [sm=thumbup.gif] or [sm=thumbdown.gif]? Looks like tail feather is kinda small for hard core 3D. Let us know please, but colour and price is mind blowing[sm=spinnyeyes.gif].

You can find Hungary in "Google earth" search. And here is a tip -- It is across the Atlantic pond in Europe.

And since geographic thread officially over, did any one flew CMP Extra 330L? What set up and how did it go?!

Hi there

Right now i'm finishing up my Extra too. I fit a ZDZ 50NG, and it fits right in the predrilled holes. I plan to install a KS 60 4 muffler/pipe. But I have to make a 70 mm hole in the upper left corner of the firewall, and I'm a little afraid that the strength afterwards, is OK.

How did you install the exhaust?? Pitts muffler seems to be the most obvious choice[>:]

Rumpeden:

I installed pitts style muffler.
There's no problem. The only dissadvantage is that I had to cut bigger "hole" in a cowl.
