I would be concerned with balance with putting two servos that far back in the tail. The plane was designed with the servos almost on the CG. To put several ounces that far back would mean you would need 3 to 4 times that weight out front to counter it. Maybe you could get away with less weight up front if you chose micro servos in the tail.

Default Vertical Stab ??

Guys,

I just got to putting the Vertical Stab on my 1.20 Edge. This piece is all fiberglass with no structure inside. The TE is a piece of heavy balsa, but nothing inside of the stab.

My question is ... Is this OK? It seems way to soft and has no support. I have never had a model with a fiberglass stab before. I have seen them with glass on the fuse, but that was supported with a wooden frame.

Thanks,
Eric

Hey can some of you guys post how the plane balanced with the motor you choose. I just got my Edge 540t yesterday and i got a OS 160 and a saito 180 laying around cant figure out which 1 to use! I know they are pretty close in weight but I'm tweaking out over here :-) thanks and good luck with the planes.

Hey ebackscheider quick question. Why did you mount the saito inverted? Will it fit better that way? looking good

Only things I have changed so far are..

The way the Cowl is mounted. I used hardwood and mounted blocks on the firewall and then mounted the cowl to those.

And the Engine I installed inverted instead of sideways.

I am thinking of using 2 servos in the fuse for the elevator and putting the throttle out by the engine. I don't like the push rods with the Y in the end. I would put them in the back but the sides of the fuse just don't seem strong enough to support it.

I will post more as I get further.

Also, I have the Saito 1.80 in it. The OS 1.60 is very powerful and would fly the hell out of this plane, but I am a 4-stroke or Gas only person. This is just a preference thing I like the sound.

I put it inverted for 2 reasons.

1. I did not want to cut up the cowl.
2. This is what I have done on my larger planes and how I am used to doing things.

I had the H9 Edge with the engine mounted on the side and it sucked slicing up the cowl. Wing folded on the 5th flight so I guess it did not matter in the end.

Thanks alot for the info. Ya it kinda sucks that they didn't put the servos in the tail for the elevator. O well easy fix.

CNSASS: Aerobaric planes don't require servos to be in the tail. One really doesn't need airfoiled tail surfaces. No need to get down about Yellow not having rear-mounted servos; they've got some of the best ARFs out there.

Default Started my 60 edge 540 Saito 100 won't fit

I started building mine. Looks great and well built. Only problem is my Saito 100 wont fit. The length of the motor is about 6 mm to long to fit into the cowl properly. I researched and found the YS 91 is too long also, OS 91fs will fit but Iwill probably just put an OS 61 fx in it with a pitts muffler. Any Suggestions?????

Use the 91 fx. The 61 will any give basic sport performance. the 91 is the same size. I would use a perry pump on that motor.

Ya jsonin you are right about the servos in the tail. I will try it the way the plane was designd if I don't like after i have put in the air a few times then I'll do something else.
