Hi guys I was wondering if any of you knew of a hi wing 50cc gas powered arf I have a Edge 540 and a Ultimate both from Wild hare Both very nice planes I am looking for a sunday flyer with scale looks that will fly well with a heavyer 50 or 60 sized motor most of the planes i see in this class are low wing or extream aerobatic that are more edge of your seat type planes. I was hopping to find a bigger slower type aircraft in the 4lb engine size. the only thing i can see is a modeltech 135" cub and that im almost considerin. I have a smaller one and a 109" one that needs a lot of work. both are a lot of fun but not something i can fly in the wind. we have a permawind sittuation here 10-15mph as a rule. so im looking for something in a high wing or biplane that has a little more wing to it. That will still handle the turbulant weather we have.
My edge actually fills the bill but I have one so a cap, extra, Yak, Su31 are not what im looking for. the Ultmate is a great 3-D plane But I want something that floats a bit more and dont make me feel like im holding the tail of a wild cat. A 50 cc decathalon would be an awsome addition to my fleet.
Thank you all for your input.

I have a 109" balsa usa cub that i wouldnt even attempt to fly with a 50cc my great planes 81" with a os 70 will knife edge from horizon to horizon I can imagine what the DP 88" would be like The modeltech 135" might be a cantidate at this point but to be honest I was hopping to find a decathlon even a bigger biplane than I have something more scale and less 3-D but the DP sure is nice. I would like to put a twin in it.

I am on the market for a simular plane. However, I was planning on powering with a 26cc. The SIG Rascal seems like a great plane, and would probably give you what you want if you were willing to go with a smaller engine.
For the 40cc, another option might be the Kangke 1/4 Giant Monocoupe. Ive heard of guys putting at 40cc in those with good results.

Im thinking Ken has a good plan. I wish I had the space to build as it is when i take on a Arf I have to clear a spot for me to sleep lol with all the planes in the shop building is just not feasable I might have to take over my daughters room when she goes to collage god willing. Can you imaqine the size a 50cc jenny would be?
I guess if i want a large scale aircraft I will have to build one not enough people want planes like this to warrent a ARF I did stop by Dave Patrics web site and can see one of his PA-18's in my future with a 4 stroke twin in it man they sure are good looking planes.
Kangke 1/4 Giant Monocoupe Ive seen up close thats a pretty plane as well but again not for the power plant i want to use It is looking like im going to have to stay with sport aerobatic type planes for that engine class. I will keep looking.

I have been looking seriously at the dave patrick PA-18 that is one nice looking plane However a 4 stroke twin would have to go into such a nice plane.
I also looked at the Rearwin Speedster and I cant seem to get past how uggly that plane is. I think I have to give up on this hunt I dont want to over power a plane I have a Evolution 58 that is going to need a home soon It has out lived its welcome in the airframe it is in now.

I just finished the Kange Waco with a 45cc Homelite conversion engine. It's a good mix between a scale sport flyer and an aerobatic bird. The homelite is only a couple ounces heavier, if any at all, from the DA 50 (I have one in a EF Yak). You may also want to look at Hobby Lobby. They have a new 105" hi wing plane. It's nice looking, similar to a cessna. I think its designed for a 30cc engine, but with power management should be OK. It would give you plenty of power if you ever wanted to add floats. Happy hunting.

Check out the SIG Sundancer. Not scale, but could be a home built. One in the club with a 50cc gasser and it flys a BIG envelope... Slow and gentle, but will do reserved aerobatics. I fly a Speedster with a Fuji 23 ( a 50 might be a bit too big) and is is a gentle flyer with no bad habits. Is acutally better looking than the scale plane as it is a bit longer and thinner. I had only one problem with kit, Formed windshield was 1/4 inch wider than fuse, no way to modify, so ended up making sheet windshield. Looks ok form 50 feet away. Cliff

If the Giant Aeromaster flies anything like it's little brothrrs it is a winner. Built a .60 size Aeromaster II from kit plans and it is great. Fly with a TT .60 Pro and it does all I want and can be a slow flyer. Using only two ailerons on mine, but another is using 4 ailerons and it is quite a bit more agile, still gentle when need be. Don't have room for the "biggie" but if my flying doesn't get better soon, I may have........Cliff
