Default Aeroworks 540 Edge 60 or Pacific Aeromodel Laser 200

Please help me with selecting either the Aeroworks 540 Edge 60 or the 1/4 Scale Pacific Aeromodel Laser 200. I plan to install an OS FS 91 and think the Aeroworks Edge would be a better choice. although a FS 90 is one of the recommended engines for the Laser 200. 3D performance isn't an issue with me(in otherwords I'm not capable of flying 3D). I like the Edge, but understand that there have been some problems with structual failure and customer service with Aeroworks in the past. Any comments, recommendations or suggestions regarding these two models would be very much appreciated.

The Pacific Aeromodel Edge 60 would be even better choice than their Laser for a 91 FS. And it is larger and lighter than the Aeroworks. Flies better too.

Jim,

I wasn't aware that Pacific Aeromodel made a 60 size Edge. I saw the 40 size and the 27% on their website, but no 60 size. I agree that a 60 size would be a great choice for a FS 90. Are you suggesting putting the FS 90 in the 40 size Edge?

No, the 91 FS is too heavy for the 40 size, but it is perfect for the 60 size.

Wow, I just checked the website and the 60 size is not there any more. I guess they sold out. Glad I got mine when I did.

I had both the Edge and Laser Pac Aeromodel. The Laser had a TT120 and that was the best power plant for her or maybe a YS110. Forget the 91FS, you want to turn a 16x6 with this bird. The Laser flies really well as an aerobatic plane. The construction is superb, they had everything done for you, something that only H9 started on with the Extra 260, PacAeromodel done it a while before that. The horns are really nice, holes all made for you. I call it a 'put together' plane.

Performance wise she is so nice to fly, it feels 'heavy' or should I say really stable, you can feel her turning or banking. She tracks very well.

The 60 sized Edge was nice to fly too and easy to build ... but I preferred the Laser. I flew the Edge with a ST G90 and power was just ok. Sold it to my friend and he used the SA100, that was much better.

Only gripe I had about the planes is that the woold coud be better but its was not cheap wood or caused any strutural concern. Both planes balance well with the respective engines that I used.
