question re: WM's 1/5 Cub
Hey guys, looking at the world model's 1/5 and 1/4 scale cubs and have a question.
Does anyone know if the zenoah g20 will fit inside the cowl of the 60 size (1/5) scale wm cub? If so, will I have to hack away a good chunk of the cowl?
Thans

RE: question re: WM's 1/5 Cub
Just a wild guess....Consider that HUGE carb hanging on one side, and the LARGE muffler on the other, then the narrow cowl, I would say "get out the Dremel...." If they could come up with a design that had a more reasonable sized carb the engines would fit more planes neatly.. I think you can go to Zenoah web site and get the measurements for the motor, then get the manual for the Cub and compare measurements with the comprable glow engine. Cliff

RE: question re: WM's 1/5 Cub
Here's some figures for you....... Zenoah G-20 is 7 1/8" wide from muffler face to face of carb. 3" from center to muffler face and
4 1/8 from center to carb inlet. So if the Cowl is less than 7 1/8 wide you gotta do some cuttin'. Zenoah...4 7/8" from rear of engine to prop washer....91 Saito 4 1/2" ... Zenoah 6 1/4 " from bottom of engine to top of plug 4 1/2 for Saito .91... I don't think either Cub is anywhere near 8" wide ("we need a bigger plane.") I think the G-20 would be better suited to round engine planes like the H-9 Corsair or Hellcat rather than narrow inline or opposed engine planes. Cliff
