I will cast my vote for the H9 33% Cap 232, even with a ZDZ 80B2 it is pretty awsome.

When did the World Models P-51's come out?. That is one sweet-flyin' little plane, and can really be in the air in less than 6 hours. I built two for racing, but yet to need the second. The first has survived multiple minor mid-airs.

Thats the motor I have in mine. AWESOME! Sure you get more power with the 100's but my plane only weighs 23 pounds with the 80.

It takes off like a rocket out af a hover.

I am not sure my ZDZ Twin would pull out of a hover like a rocket but it is enough and smooth. How did you get it down to 23#'s with this combo?

Greg,

My 80 is the single and I hear they are more powerfull than the twin. Its suprisingly smooth for a large single.

The weight is what it is. There is nothing special at all about how its assembled.
Its 23.5 to be exact..

Default World Models P-51

Hi KRAM,
I just got a 51 from World Models. What do you think about a Zen G38 under the hood?

Default Very Funny!

I'm sure you'd have plenty of vertical, but I'd worry about prop clearance.

Default 3D Magic

Without a doubt my vote is cast for the MAGIC.

Agree with Ben Flyin' - gotta sort by price.

I have 15 aircraft RTF. The vast majority are ARF's. Best bang for the buck, a badass when needed and a sweetheart the whole rest of the time, and able to leap tall buildings in a single bound.

Because it was so inexpensive, can use low cost engines and servos, the Magic serves a much broader audience than some of the very fine, but also very "niche" large aircraft above.

While a fine plane, it sure wasn't the UCD3D that taught vast numbers of people how to do low cost wild ARF aerobatics, but the 3D Magic!

I'm on my second Magic and have a 3rd on the shelf as a backup. Can never be caught without one!

Default Magic on Ski's

The big photo is of my present one (#2), with Moose Carbon Fiber gear. Actually they are the same height as the original welded wire landing gear, but the C/F takes a lot more abuse. #2 Magic has a bolt on wing, steerable tailwheel, and a few other mods. Magnum 61 4 stroke for power swinging 13x6 APC. What a blast.

Lost #1 at a funfly. Hint...don't use a Magic for bomb drops with a large cup mounted on top. It blanks the airflow the the vertical fin....

The Avitar is of #1. I flew that one early last year (here in Chicago) off the snow with Pink Neon ski's. It was a blast.

Having been building rc planes since the late 60s ( anyone remember Heathkit radios?) long before arfs came along, and witnessed the steady progress of these arfs, I have rated mine based on how many mods and additions it took to bring then closer in quality to a good kit built airplane. The GP PW Extra 300 is my latest arf and, far and away, is the best built and most complete arf that I have tried to date. The mods that I did make were minor and mostly because of personal preference more than necessity. I expect to have more and more pleasant experience's with arfs as they continue to get better and better just hope we don't see building become a lost art.

i also throw in a vote for the h9 33% cap in the 500$ and over, i have had just as much fun with the ucd3d, it is a different kind of flying, it never gets boring. what about the flip.

Default best arf

I agree with your guys, the Hanger 9 33% Cap all the way. With my BME 102, it is an awsome plane!

I would pick the Magic for the $100.00 plane

I would pick the UCD for the under $300.00 plane

For $100 bucks the MAGIC can't be beat & gets my vote. I had the first Magic early last summer (a birthday present form the wife) and by the early fall their were 6 MAGICS in our small club. Our small local hobby shop usually gets three at a time and sells then as fast as he can get them.
