Default Is there a P-51B ARF?

I'm looking for a P-51B ARF that would take engines in the 40-91 range, and possibly a little larger.

Has anyone ever come across one of these? I see plenty of P-51D's, but no 51-B's.

Thanks,

Bob

They will be back instock when our next container arrives!! We recently sold out of many of our Warbirds...

Here are some pictures from a customers VQ P-51B....

He mounted an OS .46FX sidemounted.... said it flies fantastic!
Note the preinstalled working OFFSET OLEO STRUT VQ equipped mechanical retracts!! Those come standard on all MIG-3s, P-51B/P-51D's , Macchi's, and A6M Zeros...

Not bad at all. Stick a Saito 100 up in the nose to avoid hacking up the cowl. It'll be fine. I have been running one in a 40 size WM P-51 for a couple years

Wow, amazing response... thanks!!

Not to be sacriligious... but what is the finish on the Shangri-La? You see, I want to rip it off and modify it into something else - I have a kitbashing idea in mind and need to change a lot of details.

And, can anyone point me to any product reviews that might have been done on this or any other VQ Model?

Thanks,

Bob

BOB,
Nothing sacriligious about re-covering a plane!! I do it all the time!
THe VQ line is covered in a plastic screen printed covering that allows for all the panel lines, and details... This is tough stuff... It can be removed with the application of a heat gun and of course slowly and carefully pulling it off...
You may consider leaving it on the Plane and just painting over it.... Many have simply scuffed it with #0000 steel wool and then primed and painted right over it!!! The covering is tough!!
Just an FYI...

Just trying to give you information... any questions just ask.................

Cheers...
Tomas

A little bigger then what your looking at maybe but if you can find a H9 P-51 (77ws) it can be bashed into a B with TF parts or so im told. I'll find out for sure as soon as the TF parts get here anyway[8D]

Thanks, BankYank. As it happens, part of the germ of this idea was a TF P-51B conversion kit that I came across... that sorta started the wheels rolling. I'd be curious to see how well the TF Conversion kit fit the H9...

The VQ is still in the running, because it includes retracts. I wonder if Robart Robo-struts would make it too heavy?

Bob
