How about telling us who the manufacture is of this model? Hard to give you specs on something we don't know what it is.

Help us help you.

I always did like that line.

(www.willhobby.com) Super Chipmunk -52 wing span 63 in. flying weight 6.2 lb, engine required 2c 0.40-0.46 cu in, radio required: 4 ch, 5 servos. It came with a blue print it just does not have any mesurments. Being my first plane iam building iam sure the wheels and such have to be in the right spot. You can see the plane on there web site. I hope that is a joke. If this is your first plane my suggestion would be, STOP!!

This is way too much plane to try and fly for a first timer. This is the type of plane you get for your third or fourth plane.

If you want to get into flying I would suggest you go to a local hobby store and ask about a local flying club. Get with someone at the club and have them put you in contact with an instructor. It is way better to learn and enjoy yourself then try to self teach and dump a bunch of money and then walk away upset.

Good luck.

OK, lets try to get a few things straight. That Chipmunk is not a Goldberg. It is one of the Chinese copies that is sold on the internet and ebay. These copies have very poor instructions and the parts fit and level of completion are nowhere near as good as the name brand ARFs. They are cheap and offer a good alternative for the experienced builder.

Unless you have expert help, you will not be able to assemble a flyable airplane from that kit.

And if you did manage to get it together, you would find that it is much, much harder to fly than your 15 size 3 channel trainer.

Put that Chipmunk aside for now and buy something from Great Planes, Hobbico or Hanger 9. These ARFs come with instructions that will allow a first time builder to successfully put it together. (The Pulse XT from Hanger 9 would be an excellent choice.) After you have built a couple of planes with good instructions, you may be able to figure out how that Chipmunk goes together.

Todd - what do you mean by no DIMENSIONS? Its true that some of the lesser known brands are not as good as the KNOWN brands but it does not mean that they are not worth buying. Lesser brands might have instructions that are not as clear, i.e. detailed step by step instructions but it does not mean its that hard to build. Best take it to a friend who if very familiar with building and they can better assess it.

Jumping from a 15 sized trainer to the Chippie is not advisable but then who knows ... I know a friend who went from SIM to a Kyosho F16 ducted fan, it survived well. If you are a really good/competent flier on that little trianer you may have a chance. May ...

Hi,
I have visited and read of the model that you have-it is from the 'Will Hobby',a Chinese facility. Several posts have advised you that this model is inappropriate for a relatively inexperienced person. That being said, let me see if I can help you.
You mention the need for dimensions because of 'wheels and such'. You also refer to 'a blue print'. Since this is an ARF, you really won't build, just assemble. The installations are pre-located for you already, so dimensions aren't needed. For your wheels, I suspect that there are grooves on the underside of the wings, under the covering. These grooves must be uncovered and the landing gear legs fitted into them-the blue print should illustrate these steps. There must also be small plastic tabs which fit over the landing gear wire and are screwed into the wing-also should be shown in the blue print.
It is a bit like a jig-saw puzzle, in that you fit each piece into the assembly. Wasn't there a manual that came along in the kit?
If at all possible, do try to get some help from a friend/someone who has assembeled ARFs.
Good luck, I'll help as much as I remotely can.

Ok well being a carpenter for the last 16 years i just thought there would be mesurments to follow. Did not look for and grooves under the wing yet, and i should say iam just putting it together with no plans on flying it till i feel iam ready. I had the money it seened like a good deal at $62.00 plus shipping so i bought it. Know i just want to see it together looks like it will be cool looking. Yes the planes that came with it do illastrate with pictures i just assumed the would be mesurments to follow. Thanks and any sujetions would be great.

Todd,

I know the World Model ARF is a rip-off of the Goldberg Chippy. The instructions for the World Model's Super Chipmunk can be found here...

http://www.theworldmodels.com/para/i...pdf/A004RF.pdf

I know I could not have flown my WM Chippy first before my others. I would have been putting it in a trashbag if I would have. It isn't that hard to fly but my reflexes would have not been up to the task when I first started.

Hope this helps you

CJ

Now go here to see what a useable "first builder" manual should look like.

http://www.horizonhobby.com/ProdInfo...900-manual.pdf

You will probably get more useful info from this one than you will from the World Models manual, even though this one is not a Chipmunk.

Whats up guyz?
I own a 90 Chippy.I bought it built already, not sure of the manufacturer, but Im sure it was a kit.Its built WAY to well to be an ARF.The 4 Star 60 was my 1st build & 1st low-wing.I was used to flying my Trainer & then I bought a Cessna 182 which is far from a trainer.Point being,I made the transition from high-wings to semi aerobatic low wings,no problem. My chippy is certainly forgiving to be a trick plane & I have no problem flying it.Of course I also have lots of stick time on my G.3 sim. That certainly helps. However,I have to agree with Tianci. That Chipmunk will be a FAR cry from any trainer.Better have your Sh*t together to fly it.

If you do decide to take that plunge from a trainer to the Chippy, set it up with low rates for a while till u get used to the Flight Characteristics. With low rates it flies REALLY well.
