15x6 wooden prop on the OS91 four-stroke. Same for the Fokker too - I wanted them to be identical in that way.

have you ditched the o rings on your landing gear for #64 elastics? the o rings break on the first landing. i'm using one #64 elastic per side and giving it four crosses over the axle and it works great.

Not yet, but I'm running one O-ring as opposed to the three, as per a recommendation on this very same thread, a good few pages ago now.

my first flight i had 3o rings and1 elastic per side. i broke2 o rings per side. i then went two #64 elastics. i since have 5 flights with an single #64 elastic per side and the shock system works well for me like that. i hadit way to stiff before.

Ahhh bugger! Well keep trying!

EVERYONE: Now then, I was wondering: To get them adjusted to the correct travel, I had to plug each aileron servo into a different channel rather than doing the Y-lead thing, which means I could do flaperons.

Also, we have to bring these models in to land gently due to the weak undercarriage. Therefore, does anyone on here think flaperons on a Sopwith Camel would help, or would all four ailerons coming down be WAY too dodgy? Did the real Camel use flaps in any way?

All opinions and comments welcomed, regardless of whether they're positive or negative!

Hey if you can't locate a GP version DR1, keep an eye out for the older NitroPlanes version. 55" wingspan on it and it's a nice match for the Camel.

And I fly combat with my Camel and DR1 also. And I mean combat. No silly streamers, we fly contact combat. Came home two weeks ago from a fly in with both looking like they had flow through not only multiple machine gun passes and flak attacks, but also quite a few landing mishaps.

Holes everywhere, torn control surfaces, landing gear and wheels all wonky. And a smile you couldn't wipe off my face.

A must for the dog fights was that all pilots had to sing "Flight of the Valkyries" .

What? You mean you actually TRY to collide in mid-air?

With which versions of these models? I mean which kit manufacturers? Are these foamies?

jasona, heck yeah we try and knock each other out of the air, and no not foamies. I flew my Hangar9 Camel and even volunteered my NitroPlanes DR1 to another flyer to use.

I look at it this way, these are supposed to be used for enjoyment. I'm not out to build and never fly a perfect copy of a real bird. Being out and flying with my buds is hat it's all about. And each battle wound patch is a badge saying this bird flies she ain't no hangar queen.

And honestly flying this type of combat has given me a real appreciation for the real pilots of these birds. Hitting a moving target with a moving weapon is not an easy thing to do.
And it get's even harder when you are also trying to avoid becoming fodder for someone else at the same time.

And in the end it's all about having fun.

Ha haaaaaaa! That's nuts! At least use patches that are almost a colour match!

Which DR1 is that? It doesn't look like the Great Planes one?

Nope! The people I've ordered the part from are messing me about now: They keep saying they've sent it, but it never turns up.

I started building my EF Outlaw this evening! Well I can't go out and fly!

Fwarrrr, excellent choice! I love the F18. The F16 too.

Yes, supplier seems to be a ***** or at least some sort of phallic symbol. I hate unreliable people, but they're very abundant unfortunately.

i'm building it gearless. i never bother putting gear in foam jets. they are a little faster, but the vertical performance increases an great deal.

Keep pestering Great Planes that you want them to come back with the .60 Fokker DR1, I hound them every 6 months. I guess I'm on the border of having it called harrassment? [&:]

If enough people pester them to bring back a discontinued plane, they do bring it back.

I paid $300.00 for mine and it was in sad shape. It was still a steal due to it had a mint condition 1984 before surpass O.S.- 1.20FS in it and good JR servo's.

Right now you'ld be lucky to find the Great Planes .60 Fokker DR1 for less than $400.00 because it is now considered a collectors item. I fouind mine here at RCU Market Place and drove 400 miles to pick it up. It was worth it.
