A 3 blade prop is the logical answer to ground clearance issues. Plus, it looks more realistic too. A 15 incher looks kinda funny on a Skybolt. Just my opinion.

Hello Damifino. I thought you sounded familiar at the field........especially when you mentioned the YS-110. The Skybolt is a nice little plane. You are going to have a ball with yours. Come back out and visit when you get it finished. We can do some formation flying!

I hope to have it ready to fly during Christmas vacation. We're incredibly busy at work until then but I think things will work out. I had Kirby order a couple of 3 blade props and a spinner and we're waiting on the replacement LU wing. My bottom wing is done, the cockpit and pilot are painted and I've run 3 tanks of fuel thru the 'Beast'. Really just need to install the flight pack, engine and tank. Later, Damifino

What pitch props? and for what engine?

Hello Darock. I met Damifino at the local field this past weekend. He asked me about my setup and I think he is going with the same prop. I have a Saito 125 with a 14x9 M.A. 3-blade. The plane is as fast, if not faster, than it was with the original 15X8 2-blade M.A. It also slows down nicely.

I heard your Skybolt was a good flyer, but nobody knew what prop you were using. I've been considering a 3blade but want to try the Graupners.

I ordered a 14X7, a 14X9 and a 3 blade Tru-Turn spinner for my YS 110. The replacement for my warped LU wing came today, got both L and R wing panels, so that was like a bonus. KC Hobby being 5 minutes from work is both a blessing and a curse ! It sure is convenient. Too convenient sometimes!

I am using a OS 70 4stroke with a APC 12X7 prop on mine and having a ball. I have been flying 30+ years and I don't remember when I've had this much fun flying. I wish they would come out with a 120-150 size(60").

I can't wait to fly mine. Been flying my float plane off the lake this year, haven't flown off dry land since last fall. Doing a little ARF 'bash' on this Skybolt to make somewhat unique at the field. I've promised myself to fly it during the holidays. Have fun!

About how much are the arf's going for? Is there any place that has them cheaper than others, or does someone have them on sale for Christmas time?
I am thinking of putting a saito 91 thats been in my engine drawer for the last several years.
Sounds like it would be a good match? I also have a ThunderTiger Pro 61 2 stroke but I am leaning toward the saito. We'll see....

You should be able to get it for 279.99 from KC Hobby in High Point, NC. 336-434-3482. They'll ship it to you. By all means, put the Saito in it!

Spanky ~ Nice, I know what your doing when your not flying your GP Slowbolt... I mean Skybolt. I hear it looks nice in a hammerhead about tree top height!!!

Very funny Flyboy. It does a nice stall turn. The only problem is avoiding the airbusses like the 260 Extra that are usually meandering around trying to decide if they are planes or helis! tell Fiona we said hello. Tell Alex to learn to pick up after himself.

Which spinner did you use with the 14X9 3-blade? Tru Turn site says the 2.5" will take up to 13Xsomething Thanks

The 2nd skybolt is an original Kit Built I Had 1 fly great Have seen them fly with 60s 120F/S YS 140 And OS 90 F/S All flew great Some As you may Agree were a Bit Overpowered One of My friends Has an Saito 100 Excellent

I see that the "recommended" engine is a .91 FS. Would this be too anemic for this bird?

I've got a YS-110 in mine and its, to my way of thinking, perfect, unlimited vertical. A 91FS would probably be great.

Correct! An OS91fs is great in this plane.

Sorry for the delay. I used a tru-turn propeller. I did have to use a dremel to enlarge the holes.

A Saito 125 is a lot of engine for this plane. It only weighs 8 pounds.

I have a Saito 125 mounted on a Super Skybolt ARF, and I absolutely love it. The plane will do whatever I want it to. The manufacturer suggests a .91 four stroke as the largest engine, but I think that will change in the future. There is also a Skybolt flown at the local field with a YS 110. I would never consider a different engine.
