I like the way my Twist 60 with a Saito 91 flys better than my Twist 40 with the Magnum 52 xls. Both can hover fine it is just that my 60 size is more stable at very slow flight.

RE: Hangar 9 Twist 3D Part II - Thread Continuation
I just got a T___T 40 and put the OS .55 AX on it with futaba s3001 servo's x5 with 1500 mah 4.8 battery....I set it up with a Berg 7 receiver which didn't have enough range and when I ran motor at full throttle I was getting really erratic behaviour on the control surfaces.....I have a Futaba 9C tx......I guess I need a new receiver...I would like to get a pcm model....any suggestions on receivers for t his plane...Thanks...

Linkadrip, If you want the thing to be a little more stable I would get my CG back to about 4.25-4.5,,, I like mine around 5.0 but she is really snappy at this CG,,, Definitely get it back further then 4.0 though and she shouldn't want to nose in so much.
NCIS good luck on the draining of the field and getting that maiden up.
Camoman, Yes it sounds to me like you have a defect in the receiver I've never had a problem with any Futaba or JR receiver until after I smashed it into the ground a few times, even then they are hard to kill.
Snacker,, Welcome to the thread, Nice Pics,, they came out just fine.
Well I'm going to start to post some Pics tonight of my ressurection of a demolished T_ _ _ T, I've decided to put my T_ _ _ T under the knife and get her airborn again, then I can start on making the 2 other wings for for the Tripe attempt.

Snacker , Welcome to our world. Insane is O.K with me. Whats normal ? lol
Been out of the loop , building and doing repairs to my .40 . I should of listened and reinforced the fuse behind the wing , So after finding cracks in the fuse, I got out some 3/8 stock and a few popsicle sticks , the Elmers Ultimate glue and went to town.
Here`s few pic`s . It`s not flimsy anymore lol.

That's what my pics were doing on a different thread so I made them into thumbnails before I uploaded mine.
Thanks for the welcome guys.
By the way, I mean "insane" in a good way[sm=spinnyeyes.gif].

Looking good Moondoggie,, Thats what I like to see,
Linkadrip,, It depends on how you want to fly your bird if you don't want the 3D stuff a good CG is around 4.25 she'll fly forever....
Here is the pics of the operation
1) the boxes of wood I get to play with 2) the chosen balsa for the job 3) the battered T_ _ _ T

part 2
1) Starting the fuse, 2 & 3) a few hundred clamps and some spit and glue, 4) the finished fuselage product, I was able to salvage all the decals and only needed a few pieces of monocote from an earlier bird... and of course adding new wood helps alot too..
On to the wing I go

Waldo, you amaze me. I wish I could do that. I would have ended up gluing myself to what was left of the plane, and then in a rage destroyed the workshop, then all my other planes, ran up and give my wife a wet willy, and then run down the street going woo woo woo.

TimC, HAAAAAhahahaha!!!
Waldo, great looking repairs man! If mine turn out half that good, I'll be happy. I like the hatch you got behind the wing. I need to make one of those as well to get my CG back a bit more. Maybe I could talk you into a detail photo? Nudge, nudge, wink, wink....
Got to get started back working on mine tonight. Took a little mini-vacation over the weekend so now I need to get back in the hobby room. Hope to have the T _ _ _ t flying this weekend. I got the engine mounts figured out and just in case, I picked up a set at a hobby store in Greece over the weekend. Got me some cool power 15% fuel too so I should be set. It was 2-cool to be in a hobby store here that actually has stuff. It's probably a good thing the wife was with me or I would have stayed for hours. Of course the other thing that I reeeeally wanted to get was accelerator and he was out of it[:@]. Oh well, there's always the possibility of going to Thessaloniki this weekend and I'll be hittin the hobby stores there if we go.
OK, enough of my babble. Now it's time to do some sanding on the repairs and get out the covering iron (yay!).

And how can this be?.......Because he IS "The Amazing Waldopepperaxel"! (Borrowing a line from the movie "Dune" )
Who said the T _ _ _ T can't hover? I have the CG of my bird at 4.5 and it's a hovering machine!

RE: Hangar 9 Twist 3D Part II - Thread Continuation
Thanks Kids, Its really very easy and fun, I'm fortunate to have tons of extra wood over 35 years in the hobby, but I mean really its not hard to trace out a broken piece on a new piece of balsa and then glue it in,,, its more a matter if you want to spend the time doing it or not. I actually just thought I should be practicing for a good Scale model build someday,, So I thought why not make a perfect scale replica of the T _ _ _ T plus I get to use GLUE [sm=spinnyeyes.gif]
TimC,, LOL,,, I like the wet willy idea on the wife thing,, and after gluing for hours I'm always in wooo wooo mode
I have a pic of DOWNT Hovering the T_ _ _ T right off the deck, I think its on my home computer I'll post it when I get home for the non-believers.

Here you go Bendr
Just make sure you put enough foam in the hatch area so the batery won't fall to the back of the plane.

Waldo, thanks a bunch for the pics! Those vids are SICK!!!
Gotta get to the fastener store before it closes and it's a real close call after work. I reeeeeally want to try my engine mount idea to see if it's gonna work out. BUT...., I have to get the hardware first[].
I found not one...not two...not even four,,,,,,,,,....... but 6 (yes! That's six) hobby stores in Thessaloniki. It's a 3 hour drive but it looks like I might be making that trip more often now. I won't have to wait two to three weeks for parts anymore!! AND.., get this (drumroll please) a few of them say they carry hangar 9 stuff. YAY!

Waldo,
Very nice repair job. Excellant, looks like new. Well I went and did it. I tried to fly to late in the evening and lost the sight of a small tree hidden in the shadows. Well you know the rest of the story. I crashed my Twist 150 into that darn small tree on approach to landing. Not bad and less than yours Waldo. I will repair it in the Winter. The wing is damaged too but it can't be seen in the pic with the covering still on. I will remove all the covering from the plane and make the it a yellow and black Bumble Bee.I took everything out of it and bought a new Twist 150 ARF and just about have it finished. I'm waiting for a new canopy from Horizon or I'd have been flying today. The one in the ARF came cracked in two places and they are long. I will have it tomorrow and because I use two colors of pinstripping overlapping each other half way to hold it on, I'll be able to balance it and be flying tomorrow evening. Here's my plane after the tree. We said goodbye to the tree!!!

NCIS Bummer man,, at least your almost ready to go again. and yes you must re build her again, it looks okay for sure... then you'll have 2
Well I'm going to post a few posts in a row here and try and show you the crumpled wing then the repairs and the entire finished rebuilding of the T_ _ _ T, she will maiden again this saturday morning, I'm very happy about how it turned out,, Now the only question is will it fly with the extra glue in places and new pieces of balsa sporatically placed throughout the plane... LOL, I'm sure it will fly, my only thought is will it hold the stress of the normal Waldo Punishment,,,
