H9vs GP ARF?
Last spring my friend was looking for a large ARF Cub.
One local dealer ahd the H9. Another, about 30 miles away had the GP.
So we took a look at both. Although very similar in appearance and construction, when you saw them and the extra bits like tanks and wheels side by side, so to speak, the GP looked much better.
He chose the GP and has been happily flying it without any problems since chucking the crappy, leaky fuel tank.

Tsk.
You really should have considered trading or even giving the bird away to a fellow modeler if you just wanted to see the back end of it.
Smashing it up like that is just a bit childish <shrugs>

Put your fist through it huh? I know exactly how you felt. Been there myself, only my vent was a computer. Slammed it a good one. Boy, did that feel good! Great therapy.
Don't let anyone see you do it though,... They'll think your freakin' out...

When installing a pilot, always use epoxy, and if possible run a self taping screw in from the bottom. NEVER use tape, it gets way too hot inside the canopy at times.

I know what happened.
Hanger nine looked at your address (Carefree Arizona) and sent you a dud. I got one mine from Hanger nine and had it sent to
(Flys Great Looks Great Texas) I could not have been more pleased. PS Can I have the engine!
You just gotta laugh at some people.

You know I make mandatory mods to every Arf I have, mainly because I overpower them. IMHO anyone who flys an ARF without strengthening it is asking for trouble.
* One thing I have yet to do is build an ARF in its prescribed time. 8hrs, 10hrs 12 hrs. Who cares. Takes me at least a month since i am not in any hurry. All mine turn out top notch and last.
Never heard a story like yours on the H-9 P-51. Mine is still in the box awaiting its arrival of a Saito 180.
*22 years eh, Sounds like you were aching to screw up a plane and you succeeded. :stupid:

If in fact that damage is from your fist and not being so mad you forgot to plug in your ailerons of left the rx wire wrapped up.
You should take up another hobby... shrewwweeee!
Breath in and hold ten seconds next time.
After all they are Almost Ready To Fly!!!
I would buy another one and build it as per the instructions.
That is how it was designed. I have all of the 1/4 scale H9 ARF's and love them all, never had one problem, do make some changes though. I think you should give the P-51 another chance. This time quit trying to re-design the model and go fly it.

desertphreak,
ain't nobody that's had a perfect life and never done something that was not in retrospect dumb. And that includes all those holier than you posters who are calling you down.
Sometimes therapy is the best medicine. You learned from it too. Now your GP Shoestring will be even better than it would have been otherwise.

It seems like the fellows who complain the most about ARF's are the same ones who just have to modify everything they touch. I guess the company's designer and the numerous hours of testing prior to a kit release is a waste of time because these guys always know more than they do.
I have seen about a half dozen of these very P-51's assembled per instructions and are still having the snot flown out of them. Accordingly, these guys must not be very smart to have followed the instructions! But then, they are having fun with the H9 P-51.

desertphreak3d, I feel your pain. Haven't smashed a plane though. I can't understand complaining about 5 days to finish a model. Takes me about two weeks to assemble an arf (yuk), and I'm not slow. Just takes awhile to make sure everything is right, as you found on your P51. Thing is, only takes me three weeks to build a kit (breath of freash air).

Iam sorry your H-9 stang didn't work out for you. I have been flying mine for a few months now, I find it to be a fine flying plane.

You nailed it. I have a friend that doubles the flying weight of every plane he builds with a complete overhaul. And complains that every plane he has has to land at Mach 5. Some people I guess.

Here I have 20+ yrs. modeling; kits, ARF's, plan building, and designs of my own ,,,,all were good. (at least I think) !
H-9 and World Models are the BEST ARF's that I have built and flown. I am bilding a H-9 T'Craft at present and the plane is top-shelf. Making a few mod's here and there; i.e.---smoke system,
"removable windows"......
